Minori has a very controlling and unloving step-father, he takes out his anger and frustrations in street racing where he finally feels like he's in control of his own life. Despite having some anger issues he is a very sweet boy and is usually the one to get his cheeks pinched by older women.

Background

Minori was born to Soo-Hyun Oyadama, who is the wife of Genta and the mother of Takeshi, Minori's older brother. Soon after Minori's 5th birthday, Genta found out that he was not the father. Minori's real father was a man Soo-Hyun met on a business trip to Shausei and had a brief affair with. Genta, because of his insecurities and fear of shame to the family, decided to "forgive" his wife and stay with her to make sure he didn't lose business. Shortly after this, however, Soo-Hyun divorced Genta and moved away to Ludos, but she lost half of the custody she had over her children. Minori and Takeshi stayed in Lidell with their father, but Minori went for visits with his mother in Ludos every once in a while and to see his half-sister Fumi. After the divorce, Genta wasn't held back by Soo-Hyun and was very strict to his children. Minori wasn't used to this treatment like Takeshi was, and often broke down while isolated in his room after a lecture from his father. Takeshi tried to take care of Minori as best as he could, but with the increased pressure from his father this was a very hard task. When Minori started college he met a guy named Minjae, who he soon became best friends with. It seemed like Minjae was the one he needed to get him out of his depression. Minjae was the one that dragged Minori into street racing, where they both built their reputation and earned catchy nicknames. Minori was at least able to gain control of some part of his life, while Minjae was also able to deal with some of his own problems. To this day they still cause trouble in the streets and are quite inseparable.
