overview
valentine is about 5'4, 120 lbs. his legs are always drawn as digitigrade.
he stands slouched most of the time, with his arms folded over his chest. his tail often is dragging just above the ground because he can't bother to lift it up. sometimes he actually just lets it drag behind him if the ground isn't filthy. his hair is unkempt, but clean. while he has nearly ridiculous hygiene (2 hour long showers, scrubbing himself raw, etc, out of a fear of smelling bad or being perceived as 'gross') he does not brush or do much with his hair. his horns can be depicted at any length as he often smashes them when upset. this does not hurt him outside of slight pressure, and they grow at a medium-slow pace. he can be depicted with a missing horn, broken horns, etc. think of them as hamster teeth - they grow constantly and can get in the way / curl over if left unattended.

val's very nature is conflicting. black-backed jackals pair bond and mate for life, but as an incubus, he can't exactly navigate his desire to pair bond naturally. concern over whether he will deplete or harm his mate prevents him from getting close to anyone. it does not prevent him from obsessing over one guy in particular (!). even knowing that his feelings are likely reciprocated, val obsesses like a lovesick dog and holds himself back from getting too attached - he limits himself to mostly-harmless acts like stealing old t shirts and leaving poorly written anonymous love letters. as he can't really die, val lives in unhealthy limbo due to his self-imposed isolation.
