One of the Lords in the Underworld, Jilaiya was in charge of keeping the realm in balance, ensuring that sinners stay in their rightful place. He was given the title of "Lust" because of his obsessive tendencies to drink the blood of those he found enticing; it was a way for him to get a sort of "high" and is at times his main way of killing his enemies.

His role had a sense of mystery to it - Jilaiya was not fully aware of the way he was created, and the more he thought about it, the more he realized that there is more to the world than just sitting on his pretty throne. This unspoken rule would eventually be broken as he almost instantly fell in love with another, the threads of fate intertwining and beginning to cause chaos in the realm.
This love interest, which happened to be another Lord in this realm, carrying the title of "Wrath" - had reached Jilaiya for a similar reason - They both saw something in each other, as if they were destined to meet, and like humanity loves to call it, it was "Love at first sight", but even more than that - Something even deeper would cut into Jilaiya's mind and heart, and he knew...There was no one, nothing, that could stop him from ensuring that no matter how many times they get separated and no matter how far away they are placed away from each other - He will always find a way to come back to his Lover, each time with his fangs sharpened and ready to dig right into him, his obsessions and fantasies showing no bounddaries.

• Over time he became a rather enthusiastic collector of various gems and crystals, occasionally bringing them to goldsmiths to turn them into custom jewelry for him.
