The Essentials

Blurb:

"Kifflom, brother-brother; Are you lost? Are you ready to be found? Should you be willing to manifest generosity upwards, to pay for the knowledge we can teach, then Epsilon shall show you the way- and aren't you just blessed that I found you... I am Herald Isaiah Matthews, and I am your saviour."

Isaiah is an eerily perky young man: always in bright baby blues, always smiling, eyes always a little too wide; the sort of man you'd expect on the right hand of an over-the-top televangelist. And it's not that far off: Isaiah is a high-ranking member of the infamous Epsilon Program, a 'religious organization' (see: cult) who believe that their gods will lead them to the next life, the 10th Paradigm. Isaiah is seen as 'the Herald of Kraff in this our 9th Paradigm', and has been worshipped in proxy of their god since childhood.

In actuality, Isaiah is a mess; a mix of stress, self-grandeur, frustration, entitlement. He's scared of being touched, he's scared of frowning, and he's scared his God will punish him for messing up. But he'll try his hardest to never show this.

Important Details:
  • Birthmark: Isaiah was born with a large birthmark on his left cheek, that Epsilon believe proof that you may be a descendant of Kraff. It's something he brandishes with pride.
  • Expression: Isaiah is always smiling, terrified to frown. When he's upset, he instead uncomfortably smiles wider, despite it sometimes causing him physical pain with his jaw issues. He still cries, and shows fear, but he's always smiling.
  • Jaw: (nsfw implications) As the tenets say, 'Men are supposed to lie with nine new partners a week.' and Congregation is there to help with that. Congreation and the need to 'provide' for his god, has unfortunately lead Isaiah to have chronic jaw pain. As such, he's often seen clutching it.

Character Themes
  • Religious Cults: Epsilon is Isaiah's being and life purpose, and his whole story is based around how a Cult and generational beliefs can mess with a person. Bright whites and baby blues, hints of gold, religious (especially scientology) in an ironic/hypocritical sense works well for him.
  • Please Avoid 'Evil Side' themes. It's easy to turn to these when 'possession' or other personalities are presented, but the evil/good personality theme is very harmful to those- like ourself- with Dissociative Identity Disorder.

O blessed be, Herald of Kraff

"Kifflom, brother-brother; Are you lost? Are you ready to be found? Should you be willing to manifest generosity upwards, to pay for the knowledge we can teach, then Epsilon shall show you the way- and aren't you just blessed that I found you... I am Herald Isaiah Matthews, and I am your saviour."

Isaiah Matthews is an eerily perky young man; always in bright baby blues, always smiling, eyes always a little too wide, and always fishing for some dodgy-sounding scheme. The eager man is a member of the infamous Epsilon Program, a 'religious organization' (they were denied this status) who very often claim not to be a cult. They believe that there are several paradigms- currently residing in the 9th- and that by worshipping the great gods Kraff, Kifflom, and Krant, they will be reborn in the 10th. Isaiah, however, is a different story...

Born into the cult as a child of a preacher and a member, the beliefs and ways of Epsilon are all Isaiah knew. He was already a beloved child due to a very particular birthmark on his face- one believed to show you as a descendent of the emporer of the 4th paradigm, Kraff-, but when he began to hear voices in his head, to be "possessed" by other people, his status in the organisation was really solidified.

It was believed immediately that this was in fact the Heralds of the other paradigms speaking through Isaiah, allowing Kraff's words to be spread to their ears, and that the small child had been chosen to be the Herald of the 10th. He was to be their golden boy, to pass on the word of god himself.

If Isaiah were to be reborn, he would sit on the throne of Kraff in the remaints of the 4th, beside the other Heralds in physical form.

Mental State & Personality

Unsurprisingly, this has lead Isaiah to become a very messed up individual. Treated as a diety all his life by a cult that pray on the money and broken mental health of other individuals, his sense of self is granduered, he's learnt how to get exactly what he wants, and his temper with lower Epsilon members is short and hasty. Isaiah would not count any of those things as bad- he believes them his right as the Herald of Kraff- however he certainly has traits he would rather forego. The man gets very nervous and jumpy at times, he's terrified of people touching him, he gets very stressed out when people say bad stuff about his faith, and his relationship with his parents is uncomfortably complex. And that's without the bouts of spacing out, the moments of amnesia, of 'dedicating' his body and time to beings apparently from a paradigm not his own.

But no, most of the time if you see Isaiah, he'll be smiling so wide his cheeks look like they hurt (it's actually his jaw that hurts, but that's a whole other issue). With a booming voice passed down from his father, with confidence in his words, Isaiah will spend most of his days preaching or recruiting for the program. In reality, inwardly, he's constantly stressed, fighting his brain trying to mess up his words, fighting his forgetfulness, fighting his imperfections, smiling wider and never frowning. He hides these things because he is the great Herald, Isaiah Matthews, and he is perfect, he's the golden boy, and he is terrified that Kraff will punish him if he isn't.

Outside of his Epsilon Obligations, Isaiah is far more lax however; what 'Kraff wants' is often blurred with what his Herald desires, and it's not that the man is lying about these things, it's that he truly believes Kraff would want him to be doted upon for his service.

Standing within Epsilon

Isaiah is widely loved and worshipped in proxy of the great god Kraff, but that doesn't mean he's liked by everyone. The older generation adore the young man, having doted upon him from his childhood; they believe he's a key to their salvation, that he deserves the world, that he's handsome and charming. But his own generation- at least, those outside of his personal social circles- have been known to find him prudish, arrogant, and some even doubt his faith to the cause.

The biggest upset, is that with the leader of Epsilon, Cris Formage. Cris is the outspoken face of Epsilon, and he really doesn't like Isaiah much. Isaiah is a threat to Cris' standing, often seen as more popular than him from within the Program, and rumour is Isaiah's father has been slowly pulling ropes leading to the Herald in charge. Cris has multiple times tried to get rid of the family from the Program, but his own religion has solidified them firmly in place. Isaiah is quite aware that the man dislikes him, and it makes gatherings quite uncomfortable considering Isaiah is his right-hand man.

RelationshipS

Bartholomew Fortesque

beloved twin

Her twin brother, of whom she's stuck with thick and thin. If anyone were to permanantly harm him, she'd set out for revenge with little thought. Constantly bickering, and constantly up to their antics, the Fortesque Twins are a force to be reckoned with.

cops & robbers

Despite the idea that criminals and cops should be enemies, Phineas apparently didn't get that memo. After months of back-and-forths, the two entered a polyamorous relationship, and are really quite adorable.
