Meyer Hertz

Meyer is the type of person that is easy to fall in love with, but being in love with him is like being in love with a prince from a storybook; there's a feeling of distance in the way he holds himself that makes it difficult to pursue a deeper relationship with him, whether it's platonic or romantic. His soft and gentle demeanor makes him approachable and often strangers find themselves telling him secrets that they haven't told many. For some reason... it just feels like they can trust Meyer to take their secrets to the grave and they're right. Meyer is an excellent secret keeper.

Meyer is a contracted scenic/nature photographer. His work schedule is sporadic and requires him to be away from home for weeks or months at time. Currently he had just finished his contract and has returned home after being away for a little over half a year, traversing the world and photographing his travels for N*tional Geographic. He's taking a break from contracted work and is doing a few freelance gigs here in there whenever he gets a little tight on pocket money.

As a charismatic person, Meyer easily befriends others and is great at networking. He has an arsenal of contacts for almost any situation. However, while he knows many, if you were to ask others about Meryer then they would find themselves struggling to recall any information. Meyer is reliable but he is not one to rely on others. He listens but doesn't tell. He's humble but maybe a little too humble. A conversation with Meyer can go on for hours and then they realize that not once during that conversation did Meyer talk about himself-- at least not about anything deep. Sure they learn shallow facts about him such as the nature of his job, or what his favorite drink at his favorite cafe is, but things like goals, aspirations, struggles, love... the things that really lets you understand a person... he never brings them up. His greatest passion is photography, but what else? No one is quite sure.

That's just how people perceive him, but in reality Meyer doesn't think he's as mysterious as people make him out to be. He's not a puzzle that can only be unlocked after a certain level. He sees himself as a simple kit with simple goals and simple aspirations. Maybe others try to read into him too hard, thinking that there must be something deeper, more profound, but there isn't. Others are looking for drama or excitement in regards to him when there are none. He doesn't think he's interesting, but if others find thrill and enjoyment at seeking more on him, who was he to deny them that pleasure? At the end of the day, Meyer is just someone who loves to travel and document the memories.

SUPERNATURAL SKILL

Meyer was gifted (cursed?) with the power to see and photograph the supernatural. He wasn't born with the inate skill, and was bestowed quite recently when he went on his first contracted trip to photograph eerie and haunted locations. Meyer never thought much of the supernatural. He's not superstitious and if anything, he was rather skeptical. However, while participating in a seance gone wrong during the trip, Meyer woke up with a concussion and the ability to see and photograph spirits. Thankfully the entire crew, though battered and bruised, were all able to make it back in one piece. Unfortunately any and all documentation of the haunting and the seance had mysteriously disappeared and so they were never able to publish the article regarding the town.

Since then, Meyer had gained the ability to see ghosts, spirits, and other strange phenomenons. It took quite some adjustments, but eventually Meyer learned how to block and tune the supernatural events out. Besides, who would really believe him except for the occult and macabre enthusiasts online? Actually, they didn't quite believe him either. There are millions of fake and photoshopped supernatural photos online, and yet somehow when he shares his actual ghost photos, commentors often accuse him of faking it with photo editing software. Feeling exasperated, Meyer decided to leave that job behind and focus on his current passion of documenting landscape and photogenic scenery.

Does he consider this secret part of his "mysterious" charm? Not really. He just doesn't talk about it since it would probably make him sound like a whacko, but it's not like he keeps it a secret.
