Rogue is a bad luck ailidae whose magic specializes more in the mind than in nature. He is a master manipulater and feeds on the insecurities of others. He often will reach out to those in distress and further their troubles by planting seeds of doubt and anxieties; the more they fret the more he feels like he's won.

He ran into Frost not too long after her friend (and unspoken love interest) was killed during a storm, a storm that Frost was trying to convince herself her own brother didn't cause. But instead of comforting her, Rogue encouraged her worst fears, suggestingthat of course it was her brother and if it wasn't, why didn't he at least help with his magic? When Frost realized she was being magically manipulated her emotions caused her to lash out and strike Rogue right across the face, leaving his scarred.
