Nathan was born in Washington state. He was born with a birth defect that required the apmutation of both his legs below the knees. As he grew up, Nathan learned how to use prosthetics and got into running. Nathan moved to Grandsons, Arizona when he was 9. He is currently a college student and worked at a local grocery store before working at Bittersweet Coffee Shop.
One day while out on a run around some city blocks, Nathan was involved in an accident when a truck containing biochemicals crashed into him. In the crash, some of the chemicals absorbed into Nathan's skin, later giving him super-speed. He became known as the hero Velocity and eventually works closely with Insight and Solis. Nathan can run close to 500mph when pushing it, but is normally stable at around 100-200mph.
