Adopted from Beed 10/18 for a small character sketch
Name is like the textile weaving technique. I'm not completely set on it yet.
Soumak is a keel-billed toucan harpy. They don't belong to any particular universe right now, and may never be placed in one, but I have a rough idea of their character:
They're a finicky, capricious type, tiring to be around for extended periods. Kinda stubborn and bossy but generally well-meaning. Wary with strangers. They remember everything, and hold a mean grudge. They actively dislike being referred to with gendered words. To those that get along with them (tending to be passive personalities that don't take Soumak's eccentricities personally), they're loyal and highly protective. I think they collect stuff... Maybe books? Things that wash up on the shore from shipwrecks? Man-made objects. They probably live on some rocky little island in an archipelago.
