Personality

Izzy's always been a dreamer who chases their goals. From stars and space, beach combing, making music, or even fish, Izzy loves researching information on their favorite interests. They're the perfect person to go to for fish advice, or get the dates of anything eclipse, blood moon, or meteor shower related! While shy, they'll quickly jump into a conversation if it relates to something they're passionate about, though they do struggle to not come off as smug when rambling about their music or passion projects. When it comes to their music or craft making, Izzy is always trying to put everything they've got into each and every piece they make!

Due to their mindset growing up, and the fact that their uncle spoiled them, Izzy has a hard time remembering that the world doesn't revolve around them. They like to try seeing things from someone else's perspective, though that's something they're actively working on. Because of this, Izzy can come off as insensitive, and will often speak without thinking. They don't like to tell anyone, but they do still struggle with thinking they deserve someone's time more than whatever that person is doing.

They hate being alone, and will hardly be seen without something to do. When bored, Izzy likes chatting with a friend, working on their projects if inspiration strikes, or taking a walk around town. When none of that sounds interesting enough, and they're left to their own devices, Izzy will let their curiosity get the best of them, getting them into trouble sometimes. Izzy's clumsy, and often trips over their pant legs or tail prop. They're careful around electronics, and avoids bringing any liquids near them. Izzy's insecure, and loves praises and compliments.

Backstory

As a young kid, Izzy was often left to their own devices due to their parents' work schedule. Their mom, Samantha, worked for the local bank in Laminie, and their dad, Joshua, worked as a security guard for said bank. Izzy would have to come up with their own games to play, or hang out with their grandparents or uncle Jeremy depending on if someone was babysitting them. When they were taken to Cheston to stay with their grandparents, Izzy would often go beach combing and find shells and seaglass. When they were at Jeremy's house, Izzy would watch him work with his technomancy magic.

One thing Izzy did to keep themself occupied when alone was pretending that they were the protagonist of a video game. They'd see different parts of the day as going through levels, like getting ready for school, going to class, and coming home. Because they thought of themself as the main character, Izzy would always think of themself first, and others second if they weren't friends or family. They'd only focus on the present, and not how others would feel because of their actions, or how things would come to bite them later. Who cares about the past or future?

Growing up in a small town like Laminie, there wasn't a lot a little kid could really do on their own. Dividing the days into levels helped them face the day with excitement instead of boredom. Another thing Izzy liked doing when they were alone was sneaking out of the house and exploring the town. They'd hang out with other kids in the neighborhood, or wander off until someone called their parents or uncle. Izzy lived in a kind neighborhood, so they never thought about the dangers of going off alone.

Izzy enjoyed going to the farmer's market when Jeremy would take them, or the biannual traders market, but their favorite place to go was the park! They'd meet all kinds of kids to play games with, and that's how they met Yumi. The two of them became quick friends due to how they both had heterochromia. That was awesome! What were the chances?! Izzy would tell Yumi about all the cool things they found at the beach in Cheston, ramble about their favorite animal, which was cats at that moment, and the two developed a close bond.

The days that Yumi could come over were some of Izzy's favorites! Even on the days they were left alone, Izzy would still invite Yumi over for awhile while their parents worked, and warned him when it was time to leave so neither of them would be caught. This carried over to the days he'd spend at his uncle's house. Izzy would sneak out to play with Yumi or other friends, but that didn't last long with how quickly Jeremy caught on. Jeremy agreed to let Yumi come visit, or let Izzy visit him, and to keep this quiet to their parents, if Izzy didn't try leaving alone again, and Izzy agreed.

When Izzy was invited over to Yumi's house, they quickly enjoyed that much more! Yumi's place was huge, and it was always a blast exploring the mansion he lived in! His mom was even interested in what Izzy had to talk about. She made the best snacks the two of them could share, and they both had a ton of games they could play! When Izzy wasn't visiting Yumi, they'd try talking Jeremy, or their parents on their days off, to go somewhere exciting. Izzy loved going to concerts, somewhere new to stargaze, or even the beach in Cheston to visit their grandparents.

Sam and Josh soon caught on to Izzy sneaking out, and bought them all kinds of arts and crafts to play with, so Izzy had a lot of time to unleash their creativity when they were alone. They'd make decorative pieces by gluing bits of seaglass to things, and making little scrapbooks of fun memories they made. They were proud of the things they made, and would share their work with anyone who'd listen! Family, friends, or even strangers they met at the park. Izzy was especially happy with the little hat with cat ears, and a fake cat tail put together with felt fabric and lots of glue.

When Izzy wasn't rambling about their interests or working on something creative, they would ask Yumi why he didn't go to their school, and found out he was home schooled. Izzy told him about all kinds of neat and not so neat things about being in a public school. A cool playground to play at during recess with all kinds of games to play, all the interesting things they learned during science class, and even how they thought report cards were dumb. Izzy even mentioned how they were in band, and played the electric keyboard! They were ecstatic when Yumi was able to transfer at the start of middle school! The two of them had a few classes together every school year.

During their middle school years, Jeremy started watching over them more and more to the point that they felt closer to their uncle than parents. Eventually, Izzy was over at his house far more than their own home which wasn't that far away. Around the second year of middle school was when Izzy started living with Jeremy, and moved most of their stuff to his house in order to live with him. Because of their uncle's job, Izzy wasn't left alone as often anymore, and they didn't feel as lonely now.

Izzy discovered their magic while fiddling around with the computer Jeremy got them for getting good grades in school. While they were looking up information about their different interests, Izzy accidentally tapped into the computer and found out they had technomancy! Izzy's curiosity was sparked, and they messed around with their electric keyboard, and eventually started asking for more instruments. Izzy was given an electric guitar along with lessons for their birthday, and Izzy used their technomancy to control all the nobs on the guitar. That way they could focus more on strumming.

They learned a lot about technomancy from Jeremy, who was a skilled technomancer in charge of cyber security for a large company. He gave Izzy many tips and tricks on how to improve and master their magic. While their first love was using technomancy on their electric instruments, Izzy did learn more and more about how to use their magic on the computer, and took interest in what their uncle did for a job. It wasn't long before Izzy focused almost solely on music as a creative outlet.

The protagonist mindset Izzy still had came to bite them just before the start of high school. They found themself falling in love with Yumi, and gathered the courage to ask him out. Yumi said yes, and Izzy was inseparable from him! Izzy would constantly call Yumi to see if he wanted to hang out, or just spend time together. Izzy never really thought about what Yumi wanted. Surely he'd want to spend all his time together, right?

Even after Yumi explained to Izzy multiple times that he'd like time to himself every once in awhile, Izzy would quit asking for a short time, only to continue again. The last straw was when Izzy learned that Yumi was adopted. They didn't understand why Yumi was devastated. Nothing really changed! Izzy hated how Yumi kept to himself more, and tried many times to get Yumi to talk to them. Was it something they said? After multiple messages, Yumi finally sat down to talk with them. The talk Izzy had with Yumi put things into perspective. Izzy learned how Yumi felt, and how he didn't think the relationship would work out. Izzy was silent, but accepted Yumi's decision.

During high school, Izzy was quieter as they tried seeing things through other people's eyes, but would still talk about themself, their interests, or their music whenever they got the chance. Izzy was still close to Yumi, and was grateful they could continue being best friends. They still hung out with Yumi a lot, but let him be the one to decide to visit, at least some of the time. Izzy would still ask a lot as well. Throughout high school, Izzy was more aware of their mindset and tried to work on it. Izzy was thankful that Yumi called them out, and eventually bought him a hat as a gift.

After graduation, Yumi offered to take Izzy with him traveling. Izzy declined, and told Yumi they'd keep in touch. They didn't feel ready to leave home just yet. While traveling sounded a lot more exciting to do, Izzy wanted to find something they loved doing. Izzy chatted with Yumi almost every single day as they set out to find their passion in life. They thought about pursuing childhood dreams. Cats weren't Izzy's favorite animal anymore, it was fish now, but maybe something involving animals would be fun?

Izzy volunteered for a few jobs until they caught a live stream of a new, small musician known as Flora Fern. They hadn't been making as much music since graduating high school, but Izzy did remember how much fun it was, so they reached out to ask questions. Izzy explained their love of music, and how they used technomancy to help with it. The musician, Lucia, was happy to chat with Izzy about music, and the two eventually met in person after they found out they both live in Laminie. Izzy worked on improving their guitar skills, and even picked up the electric keyboard again to play around with. Izzy eventually started helping Lucia with her music, and the two of them started making music together.

Present Day

In the present, Izzy often visits Yumi when he's back in Laminie, and can still often be spotted around him, or with Lucia. They continue to pursue a musician career with Lucia.
