Modern days. Magic is a thing and some people can use it, but it's rare and not powerful at all. Some people might have musical talent or be really good with a football just like others might be able to emit heat from their hands or make small objets float. More magically potent beings exists, but they're rare and generally accepted by human society who, honestly, does not really care as long as they don't break anything.
