The first prototype of a bionic prosthesis was created a hundred years ago, in 1962, in Japan. In 2001, the first fully mind-controlled prosthesis was developed by Michael Holden, and it was a bioengineering breakthrough.
The year is 2061. The population of the Earth grew. Some cities merged with each other, turning into megapolises known as "Megacities". "Makong" was the first to get megacity status in 2026. Political and economic power is gradually shifting into the hands of corporations. And no one is surprised by replaced limbs and organs anymore. Your neighbor has an augmented leg. Your friend had just installed a pair of new eyes. This time, everyone can be a "human+". If they are rich enough to afford it, of course.
But just as with great power comes great responsibility, with a lot of augmentations and technologies in the world come those who seek to steal your data, take control of your augmentations, and break your too weak Network security. People get loans to be augmented and lose everything, not being able to pay corporations back. And some parts of the Megacities are not a place for a safe walk.
The year is 2061. You can be everything.
But you are nothing.
Callisto
Also known as "Project 76", Callisto Burns is a heavily augmented human, an agent of Holden&Alpire Corporation and one of the two main characters of the story.

Juelss Jade Morra, better known as "JVEL55," is one of the city's most talented hackers who works for the Corporation mostly against her will, but has some compelling reasons to stay.
