Overview
The Starless was founded by Sunscorch, the previous healer of SkyClan who ventured southwest of clan territory with the last fragment of SkyClan to establish themselves in an old, crumbled temple far from the clans. It started with Sunscorch designating himself leader, and terrifying the rest of his group into submission by killing his sister Duskstrike in front of them. From there he led out patrols to manipulate other cats into joining their ranks, establishing more roles and designated places for certain groups. With the lowest rank trapped at the temple floors and the highest residing at the top of the temple.

The temple overtime has been molded into the perfect hidden camp for a clan as huge and brutish as The Starless. With hidden tunnels and temple walls that spiral up and can reach close to the canopies, while the inside of the temple toward the middle has collapsed and created many unique mini-structures and pathways throughout the camp. Drudges (The lowest rank in The Starless) reside at the bottom of the temple, with the most amunt of rubble and debris and the darkest point in the camp. With many small dens and trenches and other hiding places but with no way of getting to the higher ranks. Only a small tunnel can get them to the higher ranks, to find this tunnel and use it no matter the age or circumstance is punishable by death. Soldiers reside on the second lowest floor of The Starless, with much more small openings to the outside of the camp, but cannot leave without permission and another trusted party. Commanders reside on the second highest floor, they have free reign of all territories as long as they have a reason for being there. The councillors and Leader reside at the very top of the temple, where small trees have grown and created a natural ground to live in. Hunters reside underneath the temple, in a series of hidden tunnels, instructed to kill anyone who ventures in that isn't a mentor.

Strict Atheism . Cats that join The Starless do not posess any strong religious beliefs as they are either loners or kittypets, some decendants of rouge groups have certain beliefs and pracices that they were forced to give up. Any following or speaking of a religious belief or afterlife is stricly foridden and is one of the worst offenses for all ranks.
StarClan hatred . For those of SkyClan blood, StarClan is a fiercly taboo topic. Nothing other than the utmost hatred for StarClan ancestors is permitted, breaching this is one of the worst offenses to ever exist in The Starless.
Councillors
(Most trusted cats in the Starless that make laws and punish cats on behalf of Sunscorch) Councillors have the most important role in The Starless. They make laws and regulations that are passed onto the Commanders to enforce, councillors consist of a small handful of trusted cats that act on Sunscorch's behalf. They host meetings that can range from including just specific ranks to the whole clan. They choose what the clan does or does not do, they decide battle plans and overall management. They are usually mistaken for leaders. The lead Councillor is the highest of the group, they get extra authority and training and are the ones to take over once the leader dies or retires.
Hunters
(Secret rank of cats that are trained solitarily to be assassins, body guards and spies) Hunters are taken straight from birth and trained underneath the temple in isolation. They are forced and trained into a brutal nature and extreme loyalty to their mentors, which are councillors. They are instructed personally to accompany the councillors to public events and meetings and in battle. They rarely leave their mentor's side. They can be instructed to assasinate or spy on anyone their mentor chooses. They have little to no personal autonomy and are merely accessories for the councillors to ensure the safety and security of higher ranking members.
Commanders
(Two groups of trusted senior soldiers that police the lower ranks) Commanders are specifically chosen soldiers that are chosen to police the lower ranks and serve and enforce the wishes of the higher ranks. They instruct, guide and supervise soldiers during battle or hunting patrols. Commanders both each coordinate battle plans and take on daily duties for soldiers on behalf of councillors. The commnders as a group are split into two groups, Daylight commanders and nighttime commanders, each group patrols the territory around the temple at their respective hours, either stopping cats from escaping or leaving their respective dens. Only Councillors and whoever they exempt are granted free acess of the territory.
Soldiers
(Main defenders and hunters of the Starless) Soldiers are trained as apprentices at 4 moons old before becoming full soldiers. The soldiers patrol during the day to hunt for food, some may accompany Commander patrols for extra numbers if there is suspicion of intruders. Unlike drudges, soldiers may get a meal or two a day, and their kits automatically become apprentices unless they fail their training. They also do domestic chores around the camp for themselves and higher ranks, such as nest making, gathering or checking on kits. They can only leave camp with permission and supervision
Apprentices
(Soldier trainees) Soldier apprentices have to accomplish one of two things before being allowed to become an apprentice: They must either be borne of two soldier parents or they must complete a trial showing off their skills to earn the title of apprentice. These trails are hosted by two commander and one councillor, usually in bulk. Apprentices are selected at 4 moons old and given to a soldier mentor to train with, commanders cannot take apprentices. They usually are the ones to pick up the domestic chores for the soldiers while learning to hunt and fight. They become soldiers around 13 moons of age.
Queens
(Nursing/pregnant she-cats that care for kits and other queens) Queens are either permanent or temporary additions to the nursery. Temporary queens stay for a short duration of their pregnancy until they give birth, to around 4 moons after their kits are born. Permanent queens stay a queen for the entirety of their lives, permanent queens are usually female drudges that councillors have deemed suited for bearing litters and litters of kits for the clan. Permament queens unlike temporary ones have their mates selected for them without a choice or consent, their role is to keep a steady flow of new kits in The Starless to boister their numbers. Permanent queens look after other queens when they're not expecting. These queens can only have so many litters before becoming a normal drudge again, to avoid interbreeding.
Drudges
(Slaves, prisoners and least useful cats in the Starless) Drudges are unwanted by higher ranks and are not given the oppurtunity to become anything more than a drudge ever in their life unless they complete their trial at 4 moons. Drudges are used as a threat and reminder to higher ranks of the punishment for disobeying high ranks and breaking the laws. Drudges live in a murky, shadowy part of the temple at the very bottom, they are constantly starving. They are only fed scraps and other crowfood, and crimes like murder do not get given attention by other ranks. They are used for heavy labor such as digging tunnels, building and repairing dens, etc.
Notes
- Permanent queens can expect to birth 3-5 litters in their lifetime before being forced to step down.
- Most drudges were either brought in as kits or were former kittypets.
- A soldier usually has to be around 3 years of age and has to have been a soldier for at least 2 years before chosen to be a commander.
- New councillors have to become a lead commander first before having the chance to step up to being a councillor.
- Drudges and hunters are the only two groups with no chance of changing their rank after a certain point.
