Players are contestants in the game. By winning you gain riches and undermine other players If you reach bottom of the whole leaderboard you would mostly likely lose everything, name, identity family, etc. The whole bit.

Spectators are just actual spectators, they can give support as in donating food, currency, and other such things to their favorite player; so far everyone's favorite is Iz'on. If their favorite reaches bottom of leaderboard their things will be returned to them and they would have to move on.
