Failure Tales

In this world, when a baby is born, they are given a script and a role from a fairy tale, fable, nursery rhyme, or mythological character to play. They need to memorize this script before reaching the age of which they will act out the part [this depends on what part they have, nursery rhyme characters typically start earlier in age than a mythological character]. Each actor/actress must follow the story word for word as soon as they start their first act. There are 4 types of actors/actresses in this world: The Punished, The Rewarded, Ongoing Acting, and Ever Afters. Typically, they must go from start to finish of their stories without rest [unless the story calls for it], this will only be applied to Ongoing Acting actors. After completing their entire story the first time, they will be acting either one or a few scenes a day and then they are released to do whatever for the rest of the day to carry on with their normal lives, this applies to the other 3 types. Ever Afters are those that have successfully finished their story following every exact action they take, but it doesn't end when they finish it the first time. Once an Ever After completes their first act, they will never be turned into a Punished even if they mess up their part the second or third time doing their act. All actors will continue acting their stories over and over until it is time for the next generation to start their acting. Due to continually keeping up with a personality for their stories, Ever Afters tend to develop a second personality that is generally the opposite of what they play as because they get tired of the first personality they developed for their stories. An example would be if a character is always playing an innocent and bubbly personality, their second face will most likely be more crude and anti-social. Ever Afters need to keep their first face on when they act their story or when an Ongoing Acting actor/actress is within their presence. This is to prevent Ongoing Actors/Actresses to discover Ever Afters existing and that there's more things they can do after their stories.
