ive never written a spoopy story before so this could get wild-

I have a new story bc I just had this heckin terrifying dream about this creature called 'the shyre' so the shyre is this giant network that lives underground, its one creature that is slowly expanding its reach. It can't reach above the ground to grab things, so if youre standing on a rock or in a tree you're safe (lmao sorta like the floor is lava) but if you're anywhere on the ground you're fair game. It makes these weird marks on the ground called 'shyre marks' and they're pretty visible so its an indicator that the shyre has been there, but doesn't mean its there at that moment. the only way to tell is a weird sound (which i have yet to decide what that sound is) it sounds out of place and you often take a moment to listen like 'what is that?' and then you realize 'o fucc its the shyre' and you have to run :') i kinda want to write a story about this since I already have some ideas for characters- like it'll take place in a forest where the shyre is slowly expanding its reach, eventually reaching the countryside, which causes trouble, so pretty much the only ones who can stop it are these tree dwelling creatures who have been in the forest since before the shyre appeared, and they have to go on this quest or smth to find out where the shyre came from and how to beat it and before I say anything else, I will have no hesitation killing off good characters to aid in the shock factor, I've never written a particularly 'scary' story before and I want to try, so-
