THE WHITE BOX

Katelyn and her friends discover her grandpa's long lost journal. What discoveries lay hidden? What happened to him? How did The White Box come to be? The answers must be hidden somewhere within.
This story takes place from two different perspectives. One in the past with Katelyn's Grandfather Geo and his companions, and one in the present with Katelyn and her group of friends.

Geo's granddaughter Katelyn follows in his footsteps, and her hunger for curiosity is almost mirrored to his. When she was little he would tell her stories about his discoveries and adventures, hoping someday Katelyn may experience something even greater. Later on he passed away, leaving the care of the white box to Katelyn. Along the way her friends continued to support and encourage her, especially Nick and Syndie, and through years and years of experimentation and failure, she finally finished what her Grandfather had been wanting to achieve. Geo's dream had been realized, and the white box had become more powerful than ever. Now there was a giant open road ahead of them, and no end to the possibilities they could discover.
THe White Box
A peculiar machine originally created and designed by the two incredibly gifted engineers, Geovanni, who had first created it, and Katelyn, who later finished it. This device is sought after by many and is claimed to have the ability to create anything you desire (food, objects, portals, etc.). Katelyn continuously strives to access new information about different dimensions and people through the white box. Unfortunately though, a machine so powerful is naturally incredibly unstable, and this leads Katelyn and her friends to deal with all sorts of problems, big and small.
The Dimensions
There are thousands upon thousands of different dimensions, each with unique economies, backgrounds, and worlds. Among those are several "higher ranked" dimensions, those that bring in people from all over and are known in a multitude of different lands. These places usually have stricter rules regarding portals and magic, often making portals accessible to open and exit through only one entrance, and banning any unnecessary equipment or weapons as to not create chaos. Some dimensions however, operate under less civil rules, the most notorious one being "Madhorn" aka "The Black Market of Dimensions."
Curses
Curses are incredibly rare forms of corrupted magic that can greatly affect a person in an equally negative and positive way. They grant whomever is affected with incredible power, but in turn damn them for life with negative side effects. (For example: A curse can cause the user to become immortal, but now they can no longer eat, sleep, or feel temperature.) In most cases, side effects to the curse cannot be reversed, and in all cases, impossible to get rid of completely. However, there are ways to minimize the negative effects, though this takes a lot of effort and is incredibly hard to accomplish.
EARTH
Despite the amazing ability to traverse through different dimensions, almost the entirety of the people on Earth don't have a clue about it. Katelyn as well as her friends and few others are the only ones with access and knowledge to these places. Discovered for the first time by Katelyn's Grandfather Geo (Geovanni), he came to the conclusion that if the world found out it would bring chaos, and the people who lived here might never be the same. He decided to hide it, and spent quite some time making sure the world wouldn't find out. To this day more and more people are learning about it, and though it's only a select few, Katelyn and her friends still make sure the word doesn't get out, especially to the wrong people.
Portals
Portals are accessed through two different ways. One being an affixed gateway with only one destination on either side, usually placed within a popular city or establishment. The other way being a small portable device that has the ability to access multiple dimensions (these being the most common for travel). If someone was interested in gaining access to a particular dimension, they would first have to find a portal smith. Portal smiths are not uncommon and can be found in most places where dimension travel is a normal occurrence. However, gaining access to a new place can be very costly, and some places aren't even able to be accessed through this method. For example The Black Market has certain restrictions, making travel impossible without a unique portal device.
