GRIMLORD
Abandoned and suddenly replaced by a strange boy with white hair, Yuno's the daughter of the Grim reaper, has to prove her worth in heaven by seeking out a strange man who is believed to be the cause of the upsurge of supernatural anomalies including the existence of revenants on earth. Her ongoing investigation is suddenly interrupted when she once again meets the boy she once knew as her replacement.

SETTING:
THE WORLD:
The world in Grimlord is created by a foreign entity named god. God is a metaphysical force created from the collective consciousness of mortality and its will to survive. Its job is to be subject to the needs and desires of the mortal realm. The world in Grimlord is divided into three worlds. You have the origin world where mortality exists and humans thrive and then two other worlds that are reflections of the origin world. Hell is a world reflecting human negativity and Heaven is a world reflecting human positivity. These three worlds are connected and influence each other thus needing a system in order for one not to gain too much influence. If one of the worlds gains too much influence on the origin world, humans will meet their demise. This is where demons and angels come in. Demon and angels are the manifestations of their respective energies (negative and positive), and are created with the purpose to influence the origin world. With both entities battling for influence, they are creating a balance of pure energy and miasma among mortals. This concept is known as the world line.
Heaven:
Heaven is the world where angel’s resided. It is the plane of existence where all of mortality's positivity goes and it redirects back to the mortal realm. In order for heaven and angels to exist, mortality must have pure energy. In heaven, there are levels for each type of angel. The lower the level is the close to humanity the angels are.
Hell:
Hell is the world where demons reside and in recent centuries the devil resides as well. Created from the negative energies of mortals, hell has become the most potent plane for miasma. That miasma is then emitted back to the earth. Hell is divided up into several levels. The lower level of hell is usually where demons reside.
Mortal realm:
The mortal realm is where mortal creatures reside. It was the original world and where every other world is reflected. From animals to plants every creature has its own will that affects how the world functions. The mortals of this world have souls which are made up of equal parts miasma and pure energy. The fluctuations of energy from the soul usually affect how mortals interact with their environment through the rule called the law of attraction.
The more positive effects you have on others and yourself will give good returns such as blessings. The same effects can happen to negative energy and instead of blessings, it’s cursed. The mortal realm is split as well. You have the physical world and limbo. The physical body is just a container for the soul. Once that soul leaves the body they become a spirit and are left in limbo where the angels of death come to guide them to God for judgment. In limbo, spirits are at their most vulnerable. In some cases under the influence of demonic forces spirits can turn into ghosts and have effects on the psychical world.
State of the world:
In the current timeline of the series, the world line is thrown off of balance due to a stronger force of miasma. This miasma fluctuation is caused by the increased populations of revenants and ethereals. By having revenants and ethereals existing in the mortal realms more miasma is emitted into the atmosphere. This increase in miasma is preventing angels from entering the mortal realms.
If the miasma completely takes over the world line, the world will be destroyed. Due to the increase of miasma it has affected the behavior of humans. There has been increased sucide rates and murders happening around the world. This has led to an increase in deaths as well. With fewer angel to exist in the mortal realm many jobs have not been taken care of. More souls are being eaten and more spirits are turning into ghosts. Yuno and Takashi's job in the story is to find the sources and to end all of this.
THE SOUL SYSTEM:
The Soul:
The soul is created from two life force energies miasma and pure energy. Throughout life for a nephilim or humans these energies tend to fluctuate. The more miasma a human has when dying compared to pure energy usually determines their fate in the cosmos. The soul contributes to the world line, by the collective energies of various souls.Powers:
Miasma and pure energy also are how angels and demons use their powers. The more influence an angel has on earth the more their power grows and it’s vice versa for demons. Once a human has accumulated enough positive energy they are given a blessing. If a human has accumulated a lot of negative energy they are given a curse by a demon.Supernatural entities:
Angels and demons are the personification of evil and good created by humans. They are concepts created by the beliefs of humans of what is good and evil. Good and evil is ever changing in human history and to the individual on one's morals. Thus angels and demons are two sides of the same coin. Neither one of them is truly evil or truly good; they are just influenced by the humans that believe them.
As God is the collective belief of the one above all. God isn’t evil or good but is reflection of what humans desire. Heavens and Hell are just two reflections of the human world.
Angels:
Angel’s are spiritual messengers and servants of gods. Every angel is born from God with a purpose whether that is to become a guardian angel or to become an angel who fights demons. Once their purpose is done they cease to exist and the essence of them returns to god. Angels belong to a ranking system based on their influences between the human realm and heaven.
Demons:
Demon’s are the personification of evil and form from the tainted souls of humans and fallen angels of heaven. They came to be when the watchers' angels were punished by God for having Nephlims with the daughters of men and were turned into demons. Demons forms are usually grotesque to the human eye, almost alien-like and their world is surrounded by darkness. Demons are more animalistic in behavior and driven by sinful emotions. They are opposite in behavior compared to their angels' cousins. Demon can’t manifest in the mortal realm unlike angels but they can influence the mortal realm through their potent miasma.
Awakenings: There are a few rare demons who are self aware and are able to speak. This is called awakening where a demon is able to overcome their instinct and achieve consciousness. This usually happens when a demon has an intense trigger that causes them to remember something about their past life causing them to be self aware.
Devils
Devils are also known as fallen angels. These angels went against God and were banished to hell for punishment. Devils are usually intelligent with being able to speak and think for themself. They also have a more humanoid appearance with lesser demon features. The Devils are technically the most powerful demons with corrupt powers of angels and a strong miasma that affects the human world. They are usually the leaders of the various layers of hell and govern over the lesser demons. Known Devils are Lucifer, satan, etc. The stronger the status of the angel was in heaven the stronger a devil is in hell. Example Lucifer was a Seraphim making him the strongest devil in hell.
CASE 1:
Ethereals aren’t supposed to exist in this world. Ethereals are descendants of nephilim (human/angel hybrids). They are mostly human on the outside but retain some supernatural abilities from their ancestors thus they can have a second life. Think of them as half dead. They are able to experience the spiritual world because they are half dead and more supernatural. Almost like they killed off their human side. Like Nephilims their existence is a danger to the world.Ethereals have become demons/devils' next best option to exist psychically in the mortal realm. By eating an ethereal’s soul they can inhabit their bodies becoming revenants. But in order to maintain their bodies they must consume other souls.
CHARACTERS
The second protagonist of the series. He is Yuno partner and was sent by Heaven to take over the case after Yuno's failure to find the culprit.
The protagonist of the story. She's a reaper in training sent to earth to investigate the strange influx of influence happening in the world line. She's also is a contract and is being mentor by Takashi.
Yuno's Guardian/familiar. Her father sent Katsuki with Yuno to the mortal realm to watch over her. He's like a uncle to her.
