Guidelines

Guidelines is a world I built up from a dream, it is populated by both regular people and those with abilities ranging from mundane to the absolute extreme.

Every ability user has something called a "Guide" that takes the form of an animal. This guide can be seen when their ability is active, but only to other ability users. The guide is like a phantom, it cannot be touched except by it's user, it simply passes through anyone else who tries to touch it. It often takes a color suited to the ability user and it grows in brightness and density the more powerful the ability and user is. Guides are always the natural size of the species they resemble. It is possible for an ability user to have more than one Guide but it is extremely rare and usually only happens because the user's ability enables them to have multiple abilities (such as copying or stealing abilities). A guide will always stay by their users side when not engaging with other guides.  Ability users are called "Guided."

Guides do not directly cause or act as an ability, they do not take actions on physical things. One can lose control of their ability, which may cause the guide to flare up, run wild, or disappear. If two ability users are fighting one another, the guides will also appear to be fighting each other.  If a Guided dies their guide disappears, as well as if they are knocked unconscious. If the Guided is restrained or immobilized so is their guide but the guide does not share any injuries with it's user.  It is unknown their true purpose aside from the identification of a Guided and being seen when an ability is activated.

The main location of this world's conflict and story is a large expansive city called Nordtown, here lies a vast amount of ability users, the city seems almost ruled by them. This world takes place in modern times (2021). The existence of ability users (Guided) is known well by the public. They are treated with caution but since you can't tell who is Guided until they activate their ability and there isn't a way of identifying/distinguishing Guided, their social status is usually unaffected. The governing bodies usually try to keep the identity of Guided people hidden unless they are wanted for a crime in order to reduce any unnecessary tensions/conflict. Most Guided seem to want to remain out of the public eye and on the down low but of course there are those that choose the path of most resistance.

The Underground folder contains characters that are members of the underground organizations.

I doubt anyone would be interested, but if you are interested in creating a character in Guidelines contact me about it.
