Robert Nightwell is a banished vampire-demon hybrid who lost reign over all demonkind following a giant war. After moving to the small city of Sunilla, falling in love with an abusive woman and almost killing his own kids due to possession and an inefficient diet, he is left with a lost sense of self and a terrible fear of the blood that keeps him alive. He resides in a cheap apartment block, almost never leaving his room for both a fear of his own vampirism and of other people’s mistreatment. That is, until, he gets an invite from a group of cheery rugby players inviting him to a whole-unit party, adamant that he joins them and kinder than anyone else he’s met before. Hesitant, he accepts.
