The planet of Neptune in The Fools Birthright is quite a bit different from the one in real life. Although still incredibly cold, windy, and dark, it has conditions that are actually able to sustain life (if only barely). The Sequaes are incredibly well adapted to the conditions of Neptune, and even a human like Brendon can set foot there without being torn apart by ice and 1,000 miles-per-hour winds within seconds. The solid part of the planet on which the Sequaes can actually live consists of five major landmasses, more commonly known as the sections, surrounded by a massive frozen sea.
The Fools Birthright
Within Merlta live the Tulknae, a brutish and barbaric Sequae subspecies. Most comparable to medieval Europe but with a prominent sci-fi and steampunk twist. Life here in Merlta is cluttered, chaotic, and unpredictable, it is surely no paradise. At the beginning of the Fools Birthright story, Ruben Dulce has just been crowned king of Merlta following his father and mother’s disappearance. He has big plans for his kingdom - and none of them are good news.
