Women get to "pick" men that aren't in a relationship yet once both parties have reached the age of 20, and one cannot get in an official relationship before the age of 18. A man who has been forcefully picked is not allowed to reject the woman. This means that even if a man technically has a girlfriend, but she is under the age of 18, he can be picked. (typically the age dif would be 20/17! its still a red flag) Homosexuality is not illegal per se, but discouraged and can result in certain businesses refusing service, such as restaurants or even hospitals. Marriage is illegal, and discrimination extremely common, and you are essentially an outlaw in areas run by this culture.

Fire people names typically have double consonants, usually "sharp" sounding ones, such as p, r, d, t or k. Sirens have a lot of vocals per name, and often use ' or é and stuff. Lots of O's and A's. The names tend to sound melodic and rarely have sharp letters. Their names are often uneccessarily long.
(Note: Kaléenas name breaks the standart naming system by starting with a sharp letter, being shorter and sounding more shriek-ish.)
