The Bright Woods

At the tail end of a great war powered by artifacts and spells, an island nation of Guwena is stabbed one last time when, the moment before the peace treaty is signed, the battlefield is torn to shreds with massive bombs that scar the land. Over the span of 50 years, the spiritual aura has infested the region, cutting off the west coast from the east, and causing massive overgrowth and strange monsters to emerge.

50 years later, the grandson of the chief of the destroyed region before it had ever been a place of war continues to live under its inhospitable canopy. In fact, he's the only one capable of it. Whatever creates those monsters that exist only in Guwena's Bright Woods has also created him, a wellspring of raw energy only seen once before; the mind behind the weapons that destroyed Guwena to begin with.

After finding a massive deposit of spirit stone left behind by the bombs that ripped into the earth, Kaxalaga thinks he's hit big profits. Until he finds a person frozen inside. Not uncommon, of course, but less familiar is the massive shining cloud around the body; this person is the Shroud, the living weapon that controlled the battlefield.

And Kaxalaga thinks he might be able to extract him.
