Stories
Story Summary
- The city is a large and unforgiving place that takes a toll on the feral cats that live there. It takes hard work, and honestly a lot of luck, to survive in this human world. Stray cats handpicked and chosen by a strange, mysterious cat named Maverick have banded together to form "The Renegades". Once loners, some of these cats struggle working with their new clanmates, and others struggle with proving themselves an asset. Together, they hunt, train, and conduct business in the city. Maverick must continue to work diligently honing his leadership skills to continue managing this group of misfits as they expand their numbers.
- The Renegades are infamous for their business within the city. The clan's reputation precedes them, and they are not well liked by the feral cats and kittypets that live in the dark places beneath the humans' buildings. Not only do they steal food and items, but they also strike deals with the cats in the city. The Renegades will help cats defend their territory from intruders in exchange for food, items, or even access to the territory. It is often an unfair fight since The Renegades bring numbers and are far more skilled in battle than normal feral cats. However, the city is not a fair place. Sometimes the cats that struck a deal with The Renegades are incapable of rewarding the clan with their due payment and become indebted. Cats not involved with The Renegades tend to hiss and treat members poorly since they are seen as a menace.
- Maverick possesess a very unique ability; the power to read and understand human language. Using this talent, he awards recruits with a special clan name if they prove themselves to him by undergoing a trial. Cats under this trial must go out into the dump alone for an entire day and come back with a piece of trash of their choice. If they survive, Maverick promotes them to a subordinate and awards them a clan name based on the trash that they bring back. The clan will then chant their new name, and the cat becomes a permanent member of The Renegades. This trial is not only a test to ensure that members are resourceful and capable on their own, but also a bonding experience for the entire clan. The Renegade cats have two names; the one that was given to them by their parents, former owners, or the name they chose for themselves - as well as their special clan name received only by passing the trial.

Notes: Leader
Founders are the founding members of The Renegades that were handpicked by The Boss for their impressive skillsets. While they don't have much authority, they will be tasked to look after the clan if the Boss is away. The council are well-respected and often lead important missions or help train cats.
Bodyguards are some of the strongest and most loyal cats in the clan. They follow the Boss anywhere he goes and protect him with their lives.
Menders are the healers of the clan. They work with herbs to provide medicine cures, treat wounds, and assist in kittings. Since the clan is so new and most city cats don't know herbalism, the menders are highly protected as their knowledge is so coveted. As a safety measure, there will always be two menders at any given time and one apprentice.
Informants are cats that are skilled at gathering information and know how to stealth their way across the city. They listen for anything that might be important for the Boss to know, such as; interesting gossip, rival group plans, changes in territory, and anything else they deem worth listening to. If a cat tells a secret, they probably heard it.
Subordinates are general ranking cats in the clan. Cats of this rank have taken the trial and proved that they are a loyal and useful member of The Renegades. While most cats fall under this rank, they all have seperate roles to play.
Recruits are new cats that haved joined the clan and are older than 1 year old. They must prove themselves before they are allowed to become a full member, and not all recruits will be made into a subordinate should they be found wanting or disloyal. Recruits can take anywhere from 6 months to a full year to gain the trust of the Boss and be given the trial.
Underlings are young cats that were raised by the clan as kits and are now in training. Kits become this rank once they grow to six months old. Underlings must be at least one year old to be considered ready to take the trial, but some may be required to wait even longer if they seem to need more survival training.
Kits are the youngest cats of the clan, and can either be orphans found in the city or from a litter of clan cats. They are normally watched by one of the queens of the clan. Kits have priority to be fed and all cats are expected to protect them.
While these cats are not part of the clan, they still have interactions with The Renegades - good and bad.
Various kittypets that settle with their human companions in the city.
All these cats are available for trade or for sale. All information is listed in their toyhouse profile. Please contact me on Chickensmoothie or through Discord if you'd like to trade.
