Devoid Days

Every Ultimate title ever bestowed has come with a price.

The pursuit of an Ultimate title is the goal of millions across the world. For over a century, these upstanders of society have prevented wars, solved crises, motivated the world's populace, and innovated, all on behalf of the program.

Most fall short in the pursuit of Ultimacy, though. Not everyone can make the cut in a system so selective. Even those who are given Ultimate talents often crumble to imposter syndrome and burnout under the impossible expectations of the whole world's eyes.

Even the system itself began to bend under its own weight a long long time ago.

...

In recent years, the Ultimate Program has been losing the iron-grip influence it's had since the 20th century as country after country begin to consider opting out; after all, one might say that whoever is in control of the peace is the one in charge of the world.

Plus... some mistakes may be made in the pursuit of passion.

The narrative follows Hitomi Amano as her world comes to a sharp, screeching halt.

When the Ultimate Stagehand and her 15 peers are thrust into an unfamiliar facility, seemingly left to fend for themselves, the universal goal of the group seems to be cooperation and unity. Aspirations drift, though, once life, death, and homicide are brought into the picture. The only thing universal across the group then is self preservation and the worry about how far it might go.

Can Hitomi step out onto the main stage and inspire harmony among themselves and everybody else, or will the curtains close on them before they can even get the chance?
