Kohtera. A world rich with magic said to be from the gods themselves; whom in turn are said to keep the magic under control. However, as long as anyone can remember the magic of this world was unstable, creating magical anomalies--some of which are safe and benign while others terribly dangerous and are able to destroy an entire village. Ever since these anomalies existed, so too did the Afflicted; once normal humans who in some way shape or form became affected by the magic or anomalies of the world and thus underwent a change. Many types of afflictions exist and they change every so often; some that were more common to appear stop doing so while completely new ones arrive.
Those who are not afflicted, sometimes referred to as simply the Unafflicted, have come to fear and even hate the Afflicted. Meanwhile The Sanguine Guard, an order of those who swore to contain and deal with the great danger of the Crimson Blight anomaly went on to become protectors from whatever they could, be it a normal danger or something more magical in nature, as they also attempt to keep the peace between everyone. In this ever changing world, life is difficult and many are faced with dangers every day while they just try to survive.
