The Deku are an unusual people. Not every Hylian residing in the northern forests is a Deku- from Crenel Hills to Minshi Woods. However, travel a little further to the Lost Woods and that's where the difference is found- Deku are a strange group of Hylians who are able to commune with the mysterious Koroks and spirits of the Great Hyrule Forest. Barely a handful exist, and those with the right knowledge would make the connection between them and the Kokiri. They seem to share a unique green-tint to their hair in common, and a prediliction for magic- particularly of the natural and runic variety. They speak common and don't sound any different from any Hylians, though they have an inherent ability to understand runes.
