Letters For The Barely Forgotten
Soren's life began to fall apart when his parents and siblings died in a plane crash; survivors' guilt, constant pity, and the amount of responsibility thrust upon such a young boy manifested in visual and auditory hallucinations caused bouts of insomnia and paranoia that kept him awake for days at a time. The only thing that would wear him out just enough to get a few hours of sleep was writing letters to his mother, father, younger sister, and older brother.
He loved them more than he loves his current life, but he can't bring himself to end his life to be with them... How could he be the last to hold certain memories of those he loved deeply and then take them away from those who loved his family just as much as he did? How could he be so selfish? So, instead, he writes letters. Letters are all he is good for. Letters are all he has. Letters are what keep the memories alive and if one day he publishes them, everyone will remember his family the same way he did, and only then can he die peacefully.
