When death is no longer a threat, time becomes meaningless. Esther Durless, an undead thylacine from the early 20th century who was revived by mysterious supernatural means, gets a second chance. The main story takes place in present time, when Esther takes residence and set ups a shady taxidermy business, offering her services to grieving pet owners in veterinary clinics nearby. There resides Charlotte (Lottie), a demoralised veterinarian intern struggling with modern life issues, that happens to catch the eye of this creepy woman who, seemingly fascinated with her, brute forces herself into her life and daily routine.

In a world where nothing is what is seems, Lottie finds herself tangled in way more than she can handle. When gruesome killings appear on the news with all clues pointing to her new friend, Lottie is hit with revelations she's not ready to accept and somehow ends up becoming an accomplice to the most notorious serial killer in recent times.
