Hi! If I may ask, how did you do that texture/screentone(?) that is seen in this and this? Do you use some type of brush (if you use Clip studio, is it from Clip studio asset? if so, could you also share?)? Have seen arts like this and have always been curious of how one does it but havent figured it out yet...You have very nice art btw^^
ah, thank you so much! :3
I actually use Sai 2 for the vast majority of my artwork, including those pieces
(here are some of my main brush settings)
For this one, the headshot was done without any fancy textures or brushes, but the background was done using a certain brush I call my 'canvas brush'
Here are the settings, I hope these settings can convert into something similar on clip studio? The brush itself is kinda like a flat brush that has a canvas texture baked in :b
for both pictures actually, canvas/paper textures were a big help! Luckily sai has ways to put texture into the brush itself, but sometimes I do have to google up textures and plop them into the image myself. I do that by finding a texture I like, then pasting it into the image on it's own layer, then I mess with layer settings until I get an effect I like! Whether that involves overlay, screen, multiply, etc etc. Googling stuff like.. "clip studio brushes" or "clip studio paper effect tutorial" can be really helpful, I do that constantly for my work!
For this image, I used the pencil brush of mine (mimics the look of using a real pencil) for the lines, used my canvas brush for some of the coloring, as well as layering in some random paper/watercolor textures I got from google Xb
I also used befunky for the frame and for some extra little effects. There are other sites like it that are very helpful :3
sometimes I make my own filters, either by making an overlay layer with certain colors and lowering the opacity; or by making a difference layer with a certain color and lowering the opacity WAYYYY down- it sends up looking like a weird lil color filter? idk it's fun messing with layer modes til you get something you like
and this might be a little off topic but, if you ever want to try doing something VHS/retro-esque, this might help? I found it interesting
sorry for this wall of text btw, I just really wish I could help more ;u;
Heya, I paid for this guy https://toyhou.se/6184991.shadowpuppet-mimic on may 6 and you haven't transferred them to me yet. Should I refund the money?
