Several expeditions were sent to discover what had happened in Antarctica, but each crew died horribly, leaving only corpses. Finally, a Japanese expedition secretly recovered a small chunk of the meteor, collectively refered to as Gantz. But it came at a great price, and the world would soon pay for it...
In the present day, Shinozaki Akira is returning home after dropping out of university. When his train crashes, and the shambling, hungry walking dead approach, he must team up with the mysterious and violent Mukuro if he wants to make it out alive.
