Hillmoore

Hillmoore

Colony of the Free

General Information/Lore

A group based in the high hills around the edge of O’Grove and Valleyford.

This group tends to be more spread out than the others, not actually having a consistent main camp. Members of the leadership team live separately like all others within the colony. The main leader usually has a home base–this essentially being the colony’s “main camp”–simply so others may know where to find them, though this is not strict and the leader may be nomadic or have several dens.

Hillmoore does not have a solid structure as a group, the only main traditions being to not get hung up on things and making tunnels into the sides of hills and ground. Hillmoore cats at times have been known to be very irritating to outsiders(mostly O’Grove cats) for this “quit if it sucks” attitude. Though, a lot of O’Grove cats who grow tired of its structure leave O’Grove for Hillmoore.

Many areas in Hillmoore tend to look like abandoned camps with several old den entrances dotted around as cats will make dens, then quickly desire to move elsewhere.

Some cats who live in the Outlands still consider themselves part of Hillmoore despite not living in the actual claimed territory. Every now and then when Hillmoore cats feel too close together, they report this to the leader and the territory expands outwards(the expansion is mainly only to keep track of where cats might be. Hillmoore hesitates to make any solid boundaries for its members).

All cats in Hillmoore have some level of basic self defense, parents having their kits be taught to defend themselves by a defender within the colony. However, after this training Hillmoore cats do not typically identify as defenders, just cats capable of defending themselves. Most cats trained to be defenders or builders identify as members within Hillmoore so they do not get called on jobs collaborating with others in different colonies. However, most Hillmoore cats trained to be Healers, Tunnelers, or Performers DO typically choose to identify under this role as they seek out collaboration.

Ghosts

Ghosts are the opposing supernatural entities to those taught about in the colonies' major religion, Starlight. While most Crossgorge cats believe in Moon and practice Starlight, the majority of the other colonists believe in the existence of ghosts. There are a few who believe in neither. Ghosts are said to eternally walk a mirror of the mortal plane, usually moving around twigs and leaves with small gusts of wind to show that they’re still around. There have been many instances of cats within the colonies apparently being able to see ghosts and interact with them in numerous ways. If these cats happen to be in Crossgorge, they are usually kicked out upon their gift coming to light.

Ghosts don’t tend to stick around forever–they only continue to exist if they have unfinished business or someone they want to watch over. If they are done with the living world, they may disappear and peacefully pass on. Other ghosts simply wish to see more of the world they didn’t get to see while alive and wander off.
