What do you look for in a CS~?

I'm really curious as to what draws different people to a closed species~
Is it complete originality? Colors? Markings/pattern? Quality?
Feel free to comment ^^

I generally look at overall cuteness/coolness, and this involves appearance AND lore! I like having backstories and details to work with when developing characters, so good lore is important, and good lore doesn't even haveto be long! It just has to give you an idea about the species!

oh my gosh im so picky about closed species it hurts

it needs to not be a liquid/food based dog or cat or horse. thats like, bottom line. those hurt me. also, the more customization the better... stuff like legendary traits or colors just remind me of a kind of cash grabbing scam... also, none of that "its a very docile, soft, kind, loving, fun, caring, [more synonyms] species".... like, how am i supposed to make a character out of that??? waaaah

all the negativity aside... i have seen some sick closed species that are very unique and have really good lore! lores a big part for me, i think. pretty much, what i love the most is a wide customation and sweet lore, and itd be even cooler if a bunch of closed species' owners came together and made a sort of canon for how their species interact with eachother (like, if theyre symbiotic, or both apex predators, or other stuff...)

i mean, unless someones done that already and i havent seen it? FEH itd be SICK someone better have done that already [shakes fist at sky]

Designs! I've never own a closed species, but after seeing a few, I would love unquiness in designs. Ones that I can put clothes on would be lovely too, as if I ever owned one, I'll throw a whole bunch of clothing designs on them!

this is really good for me right now because i'm trying to make a CS so these are like tips to me. i like lore a lot because it makes the questions be answered, but design is really what brings me close to it. i like originality and less restrictions when it comes to it. like with what im making, patterns can be anything, it's just very rare for them to have neon colors if that makes sense. muted/pastel/dark etc its the most common in my species. that gives quite a bit of opportunity in my opinion, but i feel like i could be better with less restrictions. i love having a lot of options to choose from for closed species

I like being able to have a character from a closed species that I can make unique from others, a lot of restrictions really kill it for me. Same with a lot of food based Species, but there are a couple I enjoy I mean I found some that I'd love to have?? I have a couple of species from some retired/dead CS so it makes me sad. I do love lore! And the fact that a lot of the ones I go for can mesh well into my whole universe, tbh that's what I look for the most. Like my own Species, I made it so they could meld well in other peoples universes and stuff, it's a whole lot of fun honestly. Tho, I wish there were more space based species out there?? I have an addiction to those.

But yes, Lore, general design of being able to make it unique and not a whole lot of restrictions are nice.

It depends on how unique it is, I don't normally see unique CS so I never bother with them

the lore also plays in but not as much

so CS like Plotties and Crysteim I find lovely
