Hi!

Since the original Unpopular Opinion Thread is locked (it turned into a shit-show reeeaaal fast) , I've gotten permission to remake it.

I've decided to use the original rules for the thread since those were gucci

Edit: I didn't mean to post ic aaaaaaaa

Spoilers: Rules

- Don't be very rude or snarky to others. Remember, everyone has their own personal opinions.

- Disagreeing with someone's opinion is allowed, as long as it's not rude.

- Yo don't namedrop people, even if they're not on this site.

- To avoid causing a mess, refrain from starting an argument at all times!

- If there's something wrong going on in this thread, or if it's going out-of-hand, please PM me so that I can take care of it!

- Vaguing someone is prohibited, and it's connected to the third rule.

- Please do not post more than twice per page, so that it won't cause too much of a mess.

- It's okay if you vent, don't go too all-out on it. This is not the Vent Board.

- Also, please try not to turn this thread into a saltfest.

- Please, no opinions focused on racism, LGBT, politics, religion and the like. These will cause a massive flamewar. Controversial opinions are also not allowed unless taken lightly.

- Don't say stuff like "I don't like X" or "What? I love X!" in a way that's aggressive. This is meant to be a nice thread about sharing your unpopular opinions, not countering someone else's opinion.

-If it's something nsfw, use a spoiler box, or blackout the text  like this

- Don't call this thread out as a "bad idea." If you don't like this thread, please do not post here.

-Failure to comply with these rules will result in a warning, or ban depending on how severely you broke the rules.

Ey yo,  if you see someone breaking the rules, pm me. I love it when ppl do this because I'm a blind bih.

Unpopular opinion: Tracing art isn’t the worst thing ever (not justifying those who do it) everyone seems to blow up as soon as someone traces which just like doesn’t make the problem any better?? Making the person who traced more popular is just giving in to what they want. Tracing is bad, but feeling the need to blow it up, Unless they are selling the artwork, is just overkill.

unpopular opinion:
closed species are overrated and the way people treat them like trading cards is baffling to me.
that isn't to say the people who make/enjoy them aren't allowed to-- by all means, go nuts if it makes you happy,
but for me personally i've just never been able to see the appeal, and the frenzy that seems to surround them
is so off-putting for me that when i see a design i like, i'm instantly turned off it if i see a CS label attached.

not sure how unpopular this is, but adults referring to themselves as any variation of 'smol'/'smol bean uwu' (or using infantalizing language in general when talking about themselves) sets off alarm bells in my head, lmao. it's not endearing - it's creepy as hell. i don't think you're cute!

Colleges need to start going to more students to  display their art in their art galleries. It’d push the students to do better instead of looking at some stuffy lithograph piece that some assistant professor made on some other side of the country that the students give absolutely no craps about.

idk if this is unpopular, but inktober pieces should all be traditional

using black lines in a digital program is all well and good (and that's totally fine!) but it's not ink is it?
how does it count as ink at all

every inktober i swear 80% of the art i see is digital and it's like... that's not ink, it's pixels.

it's just never rly made sense to me?

ParadiseLost

Agreed with Alleycat, like...its called inktober. meaning the medium must be, well, ink. using digital is cheating

cinsin

i mean, i've done inktober traditionally but i don't see the problem with digital inktober? sure it's not really "inking" the artwork but some people just want to use the prompts as inspiration, and to them it's not about the media they're using, but drawing consistently for a decent length of time.

i'm not trying to argue, idk which side is even the "unpopular" one, just wanted to share my opinion

you shouldn't make a closed species just to be cool. making one because you had an idea and dont want people to use it without going through it with you is fine, but doing it for the sole purpose of waving them over people's heads is kinda weird. especially when it's just a real creature with a weird feature or a rip-off of a popular species.
