Is this a good suggestion?

So, I'm going to try to make this quick and easy to digest, but... Prologues.

I've been getting back into doing literature a bit, and a couple of my stories have prologues. Upon uploading one, I noticed that even if I named it Prologue, it'd say Chapter 1, and then Chapter 1 would say Chapter 2. It's small but it bothers me... And if I ever decide to actually NAME the chapters, something besides Chapter __, then it'd be super confusing because again, someone would be on Chapter 5 and it'd say 6.

My suggestion is to simply add a button that asks if this has a prologue (For when people are uploading multi-chapter stories) that will change it so the first chapter says Prologue instead of Chapter 1... I mean you can add an Epilogue option too. I personally feel like it'd be super easy to add, and at least for me, would make me happy.

Thanks for reading!

Oh yes, please! I'd love to have this option, especially since my prologue (and likely many others) wouldn't fit at all as just a regular 'chapter 1'. I fully support this!

:0 Is it not solved by simply naming each chapter? My sprawling mess of a multichapter lit seems to replace the "chapter X" headings with whatever I name them... I mean, there's an "Entry X" beside the timestamp, but it's quite inconspicuous compared to the custom headings, and it doesn't imply it's the first chapter, necessarily...

If you rename the chapters to Prologue, Chapter 1, Chapter 2, etc then yeah, it's easier to know you're on which chapter, but still confusing. Let's say you rename them to like... The Hero Returns, The Hero's Fall, The Hero's Climb, etc They would have the numbers next to them of 1, 2, 3, etc

That means it'll show a 4 next to what is meant to be chapter 3, if you have a prologue. It ALSO shows this in the information in the header area, under the stats, where it says when it was published? It specifically would say Chapter 4, even though it's meant to be chapter 3. This lit of mine is a prefect example. It's confusing, since it says both chapter 2 and chapter 3, and if I didn't have it listed as chapter 2, there'd be no way to know.

While you can rename everything to whatever, the numbers and listing under the stats can throw off people and a simple toggle for if it has a prologue (And possibly epilogue too) or not would be nice to have.

:0 Fascinating. Mine don't do that

Wolvenhyde Ahh, wait, I figured it out. I think because I have mine labelled as a Collection rather than a Multi-chapter.... definitely an option, however...

I haven't used the collection option before, I'll have to check that out when I get the chance. Either way, thanks for your vote and thoughts!
