CHIROPTORA
Chiroptoras are a species of tigers that have a weak sense of sight. It is said this is because they hatch on nights of the new moon, when there is no light. As a result they've developed large ears and heart shaped noses that are especially adept at finding sweet things. Like Solsticunes, they have three forms, a full feral form, furry and kemonomimi. Depending on what form they hatch as, that form is their dominant one. They may take any form at will. As the moon wanes, the chiroptoras feel the pull to return to their dominant form.
Generally, they are of a laid-back temperament, but are known for their voracious appetite. Chiroptoras feast on all sorts of species, including solsticunes and tesserabbits. It is not uncommon for them to play with their prey and keep them alive for a while. They absorb magic and magical traits from those that they eat.
Their magic is sound based and allows them to control one's senses. Chiroptoras use their voices and sounds generated by smacking their tail, vibrations from flapping their wings, and whatever other sounds they can make to cast illusions. Extremely talented ones can put an entire region under an illusion. It should be noted that Chiroptoras are rarely born with large reserves of magic themselves. Instead much of their magic comes from other species that they've eaten. Talent is said to be inversely tied to how strong one's eyesight is. Without magic intake, Chiroptoras will eventually lose the ability to hunt, and thus die off.
Because of the nature of their magic, Chiroptoras show affection with physical motions, touching noses, holding hands, twining tails, etc. The best of friends can communicate through a simple touch. They live solitary lives but love to gather and meet up with their friends, family and strangers.
The highlight of the year for them is Halloween. They swarm around the masses of candy and steal as much as they can. Usually this leads to large masses of Chiroptoras becoming sugar drunk and having large singing/humming parties. The sound of their song fills the forests and casts large scale illusions on the surrounding populence. This in turn leads to an increase in report of odd happenings and hauntings each Halloween.
