The size of an Articularia's wing is variable, and rarity is defined by the length of the wing when resting against the back of the Articularia (red line indicates the limit for common sizes, around the knee area). Purple lines indicate common sizes; black lines indicate restricted sizes. Art by Mima.
Usually, the wing span of an Articularia varies from 10 cm long to reaching the upper thighs/knee area. However, in very rare cases, and Articularia may have wings that reach their ankle or even longer. These are called "Body-sized Wings", and are a Restricted trait for the species.
While the usual wing sizes of Articularias are too small for them to fly, Body-sized Wings allow flight. They can be rested against the back of the Articularia, or held open at all times. Wings of all sizes are less resilient than the rest of the body, though, so most Articularias with large wings will prefer to keep them in resting position, to avoid damaging them.
Despite the size difference, Body-sized Wings can have the same shape, number and color variations as normal-sized wings.
