Beasts / Half-Beast basic info

Beasts are said to have evolved from humans who set out to claim land in the wild.
Or the other way around: that humans evolved from beasts because technological and "mental" advances lessened the need to "act as a wild animal".
Despite having full intelligence like humans, many humans who have not encountered a beast think they are uneducated savages.

Beasts appear more animal-like, but can still bear children with humans.
Starting a family with a beast-human relationship is considered strange to both humans and beasts.
Some beasts are fine with it, though many do not encourage it and consider it taboo to move into a human settlement and see it as one who no longer cares about the traditions and/or lifestyle of theirace, some humans may see it as a unfavorable cross breeding.

Beasts are often discriminated by humans who think of them as savages and primitive beings, despite beasts having advantages with hearing and sense of smell. Beasts make excellent fighters and are occasionally used as guards and are often sold as slaves, when their land is conquered by humans.
A whole system is in place for the transportation and selling of slaves. Because of this, some beast tribes take over small human settlements and take human hostages to use as slaves themselves.
Most beasts find this appalling and try to work out peace treaties to prevent their people from being sold and traded as slaves among humans or other beasts.
It is not uncommon for one beast village to take over another and have the losing side work hard labor or be treated as slaves.

Half beasts are usually not allowed to live within a village of full beasts, it is not impossible however as it greatly varies from group to group.
Most half beasts live with their parents in human settlements.
Discrimination by humans is common, especially by those who do not approve of human-beast relationships, but depending on the town.

Half beasts may also be treated as slaves, because they are not "fully human".
Only humans are "exempt", unless a beast makes a slave of one himself.
