CURRENCY

Silver Steel Plates are made from the leftover piles of pure Silver Steel and have been pressed into plates with Star Metal to create the currency that is used today. They are thin rectangular plates with a hole in the center top for the string to pass through for people to group plates together.

FASHION

Their traditional outfit is a knee-length or shorter wraparound skirt. They don't hide their legs as the material will be ruined by the sharpness of the blade. A long skirt that is not damaged is seen as a lack of care for their legs and an indicator of failing health. They typically do not wear any tops, but if they do it is either a crop top poncho or honeycomb mesh knitted crop top with either long or short sleeves.

During the rainy weather, they wear leather sheathes that tightly wrap above the knees to avoid leg damage. There are two types of traditional hats worn depending on the season, one for sunny season and for the rainy season. The meanings of the hats change depending on the cloth that decorate the hat, family lineage cloths are for weddings, birthdays, and funerals. Birthday celebrants chose a symbol and color to signify their independence and sense of self and the parents choose the pattern indicating the roots of the celebrant. For weddings, the in-laws create the cloth that represents the union of the bride and groom. Typically, colors of pink, greys, and silver are chosen as they are associated with their deity and creator, Asmodeus. Traditionally silver was only available for high ranking officiants and people in power as the color silver signified Silver Steel, the metal from which all Slekutti are created from. Funerals often are a community based effort, each relative, friends, and other important people of the deceased choose a symbol that represents their connection. Family get to weave a bigger pattern for the cloth, while the distant connections get a small section.

ACCESSORIES

Their jewelry is made up of Silver Steel, the same material that makes up their legs. Typically the Silver Steel Jewelry is decorated with Star metal imbued with magic to create different colored star metal material.

As their original purpose waned, the more affluent Slekutti began decorating their legs with complicated kinko (metalwork) and embedding rare gems and other materials. In modern times, handcrafted metalwork has largely been replaced with cheaper and accessible metallic prints that can be purchased in bulk and diyed by a novice.

TRADITIONAL DANCE

Their dances are based on the motions of sewing/crocheting/knitting patterns and their hands follow the motion of bird wings. The traditional dance is called Tatatak.Tatatak is danced around important historical events, such as Creation Day, Weddings, Births, and large gatherings. There is a group version of the Tatatak that involves the use of binding a long community scarf around the backs and hands of the dancers and involves a lot of trust. Typically this Binding-Tatatak is done by team athletes, betrotheds, and Asmodeus' congregation. This version of the dance requires a lot of trust, cooperation, and unity as a single mistake can cause a breakdown in the dance and create a lot of injuries.

FOODS & DRINKS

Their go-to food dishes incorporate Tartatoes a.k.a. Hell-grown Potatoes. Their traditional dish is Tartatoes Stew, a seafood-heavy dish that has fallen out of favor outside of the holidays after the great seafood poisoning incident. Iron-rich fruit smoothie is a blend of earthly fruits imported and fermented in Silver Steel and Star metal dust. This is believed to increase the strength of their bladed legs although scientific and arcane studies do not support this claim. It is largely an old superstition.

COURTING

Gifting a lover an expensive and difficult-to-acquire oil/lube is a sign of long-term commitment, especially more so if they apply it to their lovers' legs themselves. A well-taken care of blade legs is a height of beauty and a sign of wealth. However, there's been a trend with the youth to deliberately damage their bladed legs as a sign of rebellion. Incense is also another gift that is given to those seeking to become married as their patron deity, Asmodeus is the embodiment of lust and as such encourages a healthy sexual appetite.

COMING OF AGE

When children are of age, they are gifted a handmade wraparound skirt made from the cloth of various family members (skirts), typically the cloth comes from a piece of their parents' own wraparound skirt.

MARRIAGE

When a couple comes together, they are create a cloth made of patterns that symbolize who they are to each other and also pay homage to the parents they came from. This cloth is what is used to cut and attach to their future children's coming of age. Slekutti either become polygamous or monogamous and it is not unusual for there to be 10-15 people to be wedded to each other.

Childbirth

When Slekutti find themselves yearning for starting and growing a family, creating a child is not done through sexual means as they were not created for child-rearing like other species and their original purpose was to be elite soldiers for Asmodeus and Mammon in the infernal civil wars. Thus Slekutti were not intended to yearn for peaceful child-rearing and family livelihood. When peace was won and the Slekutti's original purpose retired, the Slekutti who survived or were born from The Progenitors, wanted to experience the joys of raising children as they often saw with other more biological hellspawn.

Thus, a Progenitor Slekutti with the aid of Asmodeus created a method to allow "biological" children of the Slekutti. These children are often made from fragments of adult Slekutti (An example would be a polycule partner would give a fourth of their bladed-material to create 1 child.) The most common part to donate would be the legs as they are already exposed and easy to remove but in certain scenarios where the legs are not in good condition, due to loss of limbs, or any other reason. Invasive surgery is done to get good bone pieces that are infused with the Silver Steel metal. The ribs are the most common bone pieces to get donated. Blood is also required on a monthly basis to be soaked into the ore that contains the child embryo. When the child is ready to be born after careful assessment of medical professionals, they will grind away the ore until the child can be safely removed without harm. The entire process takes around 4-6 months but it can be longer and more complicated for crossbreeds.

Most family units are only capable of 1 child per birth as the materials and the unstability of the process makes twins, triplets, and etc... very rare. Grandparents typically also help donate blade material to increase the chances of multiple children per birth but it often ends with the child having mutations or a resurgence of Progenitor traits or what is colloquially termed "Beastly" traits.

SEX & GENDER

Adult Slekutti often appear to either have breasts or none but at birth or creation they are genderless. They can create either male or female genitalia of the humanoid variety or have both. The concept of "gender" is very foreign to Slekutti and "Biological Sex" is also foreign to them as they were created for the purposes of war and thus Asmodeus didn't see fit to make any distinctions for Slekutti. In modern times, Adult Slekutti can be described as non-binary or genderfluid with some preferring a more masculine or feminine feature. There's really no point to make a distinction in Slekutti society because they can morph their genitalia to one way or the other.
