A friendly and peaceful (but technically invasive!) species known through the galaxy for their skills in mimicry and imitation, Poffins were once regarded as little more than minor pests. Now, they inhabit nearly every known planet in some way or another! Poffins are peaceful and inquisitive adventurers, often especially enjoying learning about the cultures and history of the other planets they find. Their biggest strength is their adaptive evolution, allowing them to rapidly evolve through only a few generations to better suit their surroundings.
Poffins are easily distinguished by their butterfly shaped ears, tassels + charms, and false eyes! They each sport their own unique leg markings and an infinite amount of differing traits!

While not a visual trait, one of a Poffin's most important survival techniques is their rapid adaptive evolution. Thanks to this, Poffs are able to rapidly evolve through only a few generations to better suit their surroundings. It's theorized that this is how so many different tassel and charm varieties came about!
Like most humanoid species, Poffins are capable of communicating via speech (as well as sign language). Their ears and tails tend to also be extremely expressive, helping convey their intentions and feelings more accurately than only with words. Individuals with wings have been known to also express themselves through said wings.
Uniquely, Poffins rely upon their false eyes to communicate on a deeper level with other Poffs! While these eyes aren't capable of sight, they're highly expressive and capable of emoting. Even on common Poffins, pupil shapes have been known to change, depending on their mood and current situation.
By nature, Poffins are omnivorous with a large portion [approximately 70%*] consisting of meat, fish, or poultry of some kind. The remaining portion of their diet varies between individuals, but tends to consist of things like fruits and vegetables. In more modern times, Poffins living on developed planets have trended towards developing a sweet tooth for all kinds of things!
* A growing number of Poffins have been found leaning into a vegetarian or vegan lifestyle! It remains uncertain if this is related to their planet of origin or not.
