I've been working on these guys for a few months and I think I'm finally ready to get some feedback on them/start seeing if anyone's interested. I don't have any really nice, completed visual guides or anything like that, but I think there's enough information here if anyone wants to make their own. I'm always happy to answer questions and take feedback, too!
This is just me throwing a bunch of info and ideas out there, but if people are interested I'll be looking into making a world/masterlist and making more adoptables of them myself. I'd be thrilled if enough people liked it that we could make a community for rp and stuff but??? We'll see I guess!
ARCANIGHTS
Arcanights are magically created artificial beings who's souls are bound to tarot cards. They act as guides and guardians, bonding to one human and devoting their existence to helping their chosen partner in achieving their goals.

All of the information and lore provided pertains to Minor Arcanights -- Arcanights who are born from cards of the minor arcana in the tarot. Anyone is free to make their own Minor Arcanight!
You can make Minor Arcanights for yourself or a friend, but you cannot sell Arcanights as adoptables!
I haven't decided what to do about the major arcana yet (the fool, the magician, etc.), but I feel that they'll be much rarer and distinct visually from any Minor Arcanights. I'm also unsure about making distinctions for court cards in the minor arcana (Pages, Knights, Queens, and Kings), so I'll ask that you refrain from making those until proper guidelines for them can be made. Court cards and the Major Arcana are the equivalent of uncommon and rare variations of the species, so they will be different visually. I'm just not sure how yet -- if anyone has any suggestions or ideas or anything like that, please tell me about them!

As far as I know (I'm hardly an expert HAHA), Justice is more about sort of mortal rules -- law, order, fairness, truth. Judgement is larger and more sort of cosmic, like the final judgment of the soul. I think Justice also implies a relationship with other people, like judging someone else's crimes, while Judgement is more about self-reflection.
For powers I'm not sure either! Justice is associated as more heavenly than some of the others, so maybe something with light powers would be good?

Gosh I just love the idea of arcanights separated by duty ;u; And having a bunch of competitive lil cards sounds like it would make for interesting development or rp too.
Another question though, does the arcanight stay with their chosen being for that being's entire lifetime or only until their problem is resolved? I can imagine that some sort of bond would form one way or another and I was wondering if it would be hard for them to move on.
Also Synchronicity I feel like a heightened sense of intuition/awareness might be a good fit for a judgement card! Or a really strong sense of perception, so they'd be able to sense when people are lying or notice little details about people in things like posture and nervous movements and things - just little tells that they might not be being completely truthful or something like that? Maybe something like the ability to look into someone's memory of an event by holding their hand a certain way or looking deep into their eyes. Justice is all about the pursuit of truth regardless of the actions of the affected parties, so maybe your boy could have a very commanding presence or inspire courage in others to do the things that are right. Like Ezri said though, light/holy powers would be a good fit too if you want to tie it back to the whole good triumphing over evil thing!

Thanks! It's not really noticable but her left arm is missing, it's hidden under her cloak thingy though.
Also, I'm planning to write a little story about her and Marcus. I'm not sure what it should be like yet, but I'll post it once I get the first chaptwr done!

Man I keep coming back to these guys, they look like they'd be super fun to design, what with the cards and cool tail and all, but their lore wouldn't fit with anything that I have going, aaa

Guess who's back with more lore questions :'D;; I might have got thinking while I was replying to our PM about the halloween ones lmao.
But what are arcanights like socially with other arcanights? Are there any kind of gatherings or events that would bring a bunch of them together, and what kind of interactions would they have with one another? I figure most of them are pretty calm/friendly around one another but would there be situations like opposing suits clashing or something?
Also do reversed cards fit into the species at all? I know in tarot that if the card is upside down it takes on like the opposite meaning or something along those lines, but do you think that would that apply to the arcanights at all or affect their duties in any way?
Also also if I ever go overboard with the lore questions please feel free to tell me to stop |D;; I just love these lil guys a lot

Socially I don't know that Arcanights have many opportunities to interact, outside of coincidental meetings. As artificial, essentially nomadic beings they don't have much of a social culture or traditions to speak of. And because of the nature of their duties (spending a lot of time and energy on their humans), they often don't feel any particular desire to meet other Arcanights as a general rule. This is just as like a social drive -- as a species they don't have much in the way of social needs, but individual Arcanights might find it interesting to talk to other Arcanights and seek them out, for instance. As for individual interactions, I think it'd be as varied as any possible interaction between people! Maybe some individuals would have their prejudices (for example, maybe one cup just had bad luck meeting wands or something in the past), but as far as I've decided here aren't any widespread stereotypes or allegiances. I'm not sure yet though!
I've been thinking a lot about reversed cards, since it's a pretty significant part of tarot, but I haven't decided what to do with it yet. One idea I had was that reversed cards would be their own type, and act as something like a curse rather than a guardian, but I haven't fully fleshed out that line of thinking yet. ; u;

Synchronicity AAH there he is! His profile looks so great and detailed, and I love his relationship with Lithia ; u ; It's really cool to see different relationships between Arcanights and their 'wards' (that's a really good word to use, honestly, LMAO)
Kanraa I'm glad you like them, that was so fast!!! I take forever to make characters, haha. He's such a cutie though, I love his colors (and his grumpy face)

In update news, I got pretty swamped and haven't been able to make new Arcanights as often as I'd like. ;; But! I'm still working on things and will HOPEFULLY have a new Major up soon! (She was supposed to be for Halloween, so I hope I'll get her finished in time, but we'll see!)
