What is a Trinketier?

Descended from the stone lions that guarded the ancient temples of China, Trinketiers were originally statues carved from natural resources used to guard houses. With the help of the Deity of Fortune, they were able to become alive and take on a human form to protect their household. 

Now there are many different types of trinketiers— namely mythical beasts and of course tigers and lions.

Visual Traits

• This species takes place in the modern world!! Though some trinketiers prefer to dress in traditional clothing, others find it more comfortable to dress in modern clothing. 
• “Family” is a subjective term in this species used to describe blood family and found family. (or blood brothers but your trinketier better be jacked if that’s the case 🙄/j)
• Trinketiers are by nature very protective of their family! They cannot “die”, but they begin to crack and crumble if they’re not guarding a family.
• Trinketiers can be “revived” if the family has more children / expands their family. 
• Their lifespan depends on the generations of families! They live as long as their family is alive— if there is a loving bond between most family members, then they become stronger and healthier; if there is a difficult or broken relationship between members, then they become sick and weak. 
• Trinketiers can revert back to their animalistic form when attacking, or they can summon weapons based on the material they’re made from. 
• In their statue forms, they are still able to move freely ! Some don’t because they like to scare people.. 
• Trinketiers originated in China in the ancient times, but as trade flourished more and more trinketiers were traded as a token of good luck, hence how they ended up in different parts of the globe and participated in different cultures. ^p^ 
• Trinketiers and their families do not have any romantic interest towards one another. These guardians are usually regarded as family members themselves and it’s kinda like dating your parents / siblings 😭
• Trinketiers can travel anywhere as long as a family member is nearby, but are often considered a burden due to the added weight of the materials their animal parts are made of. 
• Their powers come from their trinkets! As long as the trinket is nearby, they can turn humanoid and into statue form whenever they’d like. 
• Trinketier’s clothing and mannerisms come from their families! They tend to follow the beliefs and cultural festivities, clothing, etc. of the people they guard.
