Fresh-Kill Pile

• Mice (7) - One serving. Mice are one of the most common prey creatures found across ChessClan's territory. They tend to be found closer to trees, and they are available year-round. These creatures are small, and just one is typically not enough for a full-grown cat.

• Vole (6) - One serving. Voles are slightly less common than mice, but they are a continuous staple in ChessClan's diet. Voles are found along the stream bank and in the meadows, but they are not typically found after the stream freezes over in leafbare. Similarly to mice, one of these creatures is not typically enough to feed a full-grown cat.

• Shrew (6) - One serving. Shrews are found solely in the small stands of trees sprinkled throughout the territory. They are commonly in burrows, and the most effective way to catch one is by getting between it and the burrow. They can be found year-round, but they rarely travel from their burrows in leafbare. As with mice and voles, shrews are too small to feed an adult cat.

• Rabbit (2) - Two servings. Rabbits are most commonly found in the meadows, and only the fastest cats can catch them. The skinniest cats can follow rabbits down into their burrows, but they are unstable and twisting. Cats are highly discouraged from entering rabbit burrows, but one rabbit can typically feed a full-grown cat.

• Stoat (2) - Two servings. Stoats are found throughout the entirety of ChessClan's territory, but they are a fierce prey that will fight back. They are less common prey due to the fact that a bite from one can easily become infected. These long mustelids are hard to find during leafbare due to their coat turning white.

• Small Fish (3) - Two servings. Small fish are found in Dawn to Dusk Stream, and they tend to be closer to the bank. They are slippery and hard to catch, and they are impossible to catch after the stream freezes over. Cats who dislike water are discouraged from hunting for small fish because they will get wet.

• Big Fish (4) - Three servings. Big fish are also found in Dawn to Dusk Stream, but they are more often found in the center of the stream. There is no way to avoid getting wet when hunting for big fish. Big fish can feed multiple cats at a time, though many dislike their taste and their scales.

• Bird (5) - Three servings. Birds are difficult to catch due to their ability of flight. Cats with the strongest hind legs often leap after birds or propel themselves up and through trees after them. Birds take time to get rid of the feathers, but one larger bird can feed numerous cats.

• Hare (4) - Three servings. Hares are like larger rabbits. They are found in the meadows, and cats are discouraged from chasing after them through the burrows. Hares are larger, and therefore stronger, than rabbits. Their claws are caked with dirt, and they tend to scratch at eyes. One scratch or kick from a hare can incapacitate a cat for moons.
