Shipwreck Salvaging #1

The girl eyed the roiling clouds as she moved along the deserted beach, she had been here no few times but the world itself was strange to her. Then again strange was her forte, and she shrugged it off for the present. Fingers bushing the head of the serpentine reptile coiled about her neck and eyes tracking the smokey, dark silhouette of a dog only she could see presently. They were making their way toward two structures that seemed wholly out of place. No lights or signs of life, but high on the cliffs ahead a lighthouse sat, slowly crumbling into the sea, while at its base a ship had connected with the outcrop. Some forgotten whisper in her mind tugged toward both, and so she made her way along the sand, some small bit of satisfaction for the utter silence beneath wind and waves. No seagulls flew presently, and the world seemed washed out, like an old watercolor painting. Everything misty and indistinct as the world held its breath for the rain to come.

Candy was used to storms, true he was more used to them in the shelter of the Lagoon, safe in the cave that Miyu had found Llyr's egg, but he'd never been caught in one. He wriggled against the waves; not only was his artificial parts quite delicate, he knew Miyu would struggle to fix them, she'd try.... but .... He surfaced for a moment, trying to orientate himself, gaze resting on ship, wrecked against a rocky outcrop, the slowly collapsing lighthouse a landmark in its own right.

Still the waves surged against him as he made his way, both vanishing in the mist as it roiled in fast. sending a reassuring though to his rider. Finally his belly scraped against the beach, and the powerful winds tugged at him, almost taking his crest as shifted towards the wreck. There had to be some in here...

Sal was having the most vivid flashbacks she'd had in a long while moving through the ship. Not exact, completely wrong in some areas, but it was familiar still and she smiled even as pain welled up behind her eyes. Missing things, loving others...her head jerked around at a reverberating growl through her skull. Invyi tilting his head with a loose, concerned thought but his wings flared as he heard the scrape of metal on wood. Glaring into the darkness, but startled as the woman lifted a hand to quiet him. "Hello?" she asked, glancing aside as the canine who wasn't there disappeared, then returned moments later. The image of a pale, serpentine form clear. Another dragon.

She moved through the darkness with relative ease, before dropping down a level through a hole in the floor. Blinking at the other form, bigger than Inu, but that wasn't hard by any means. "Hey, you okay bud?" she asked, moving closer slowly, but still moving closer.

Once he was inside the ship, Candy breathed a sigh of relief, no longer was the winds tugging at his artificial part and while the whole wreck moved with the force of the storm, and water leaked in from the outside, spraying him as he started to explore the lower levels. He peered around spotting a barrel. It was more likely to be empty, since he was reasonably sure this wreck had been searched before, but.. Llyr always said to check everything. Slithering towards it he began nudging it, careful of his wings. A bit here, a bit there, until suddenly it went, parts of the barrel breaking, the wood rotten, as it rolled.

Before he could have a nosy at whatever had been in it, something dropped from above, and he curled up, 'wings' as flat as possible, his throat expanding for a moment as he peered out from under his 'hat' at the girl, and the tiny dragon on her shoulders. Candy hesitated when she spoke, remembering the spoken language from when he'd hatched. "Ah yes, sorry didn't mean to make so much noise, i was looking for something." He squeaked.

~*~

"No worries there, just curious." the woman supplied, settling down as if the ship wasn't shuddering occasionally and resting her cheek in her hand to be closer to the dragon's height. "I'm Sal, this is Igvyi." she supplied, snorting as the 'gecko's across her shoulders blepped at the larger dragon. "What is it you're looking for, if you dont mind my asking?" she added, 'ignoring' the canine ghost currently sniffing at the broken barrel, but offered the other dragon a hand, offering a lift if he liked.

Candy recoiled ever so slightly, bad memories of been swarmed by people and dragons, all wanting to see if he was a sweet as he looked; when she made no other movements, he relaxed somewhat, using his tail to tip his 'crest'. "I'm Candy." he said ruefully, unfortunately the nickname had stuck, not that his rider had any idea what candy actually was, and none of them had managed to get the idea across. He reared up to peer at the 'gecko' on her shoulders. The question had him blinking. "Oh.. well you see....." He started and then he shrugged. "I don't actually know." With careful movements, he coiled around her offered arm. It wasn't that he needed touch, but he was used to it from his rider, her race a very tactile one from what he could gather. "Llyr sent me for some 'treasure maps, but that's only because he's fascinated with them. Though, I did want to find a trinket for my rider." He wasn't fully relaxed, but having a more agile body would make this quicker. "And its not very easy opening things.... oh... but you must be here on your own errand, andicanfindstuffmyselfifitstoomuchbother." He squeaked, realising he'd be likely puttting her out...

~*~

"Not fond of sweets?" she asked, not missing the tone, but chuckled for the answer. Curious though, "Treasure maps?" she asked, eyeing the beams of the hull, "I'd bet of there are any sort of maps left they would be in the Captain's quarters... least that's what my old captain would say." she mused, moving instinctively upward after Candy coiled himself against her arm.

Pausing half a step for the flood of words, seeing another face briefly as she glanced at the little thing, and she booped his nose to silence the poor thing. "Shush, you. It's no trouble at all, don't be silly." the woman admonished, before tilting her fingers to rub his chin gently, "You're fine, little one, relax." she advised, picking her way through the wreck toward the upper quarters, where the upper crew and the captain would have made their homes. "Generally captain's cabin is behind the wheelhouse or connected to it... so..." she pondered aloud, blinking as a tug pulled her inward, and she nodded minutely, grinning as they came upon another set of stairs tucked away in a dark nook. "Maybe up this way?" the girl mused, climbing carefully. She had no desire to fall through any rotted planks.

~*~

"Not in the slightest." Candy responded, twining around the arm to help anchor himself as he peered around the area. "Yup, not that Miyu really sees the point in treasure, but it keeps Llyr happy, and she can get to places none of us can." He replied. "Llyr has several lying around, drying. I think only two of them have ever yielded anything." He continued. A flash of light here and there caught his attention, but he left it, especially when Sal seemed to know what and where she was going; and while not on the slippery hull anymore, he could feel the ocean surging against the ship.

"Ooo, whats that?" He asked suddenly, he pointed his tentacles towards a glint between the stars, all of them writhing in his excitement.

~*~

"Curious about this Llyr of yours, must admit." the girl chuckled, but paused for the question and peered between the stairs. Eyeing the glint and - after a reassurance from her shadow it wasn't living reached inside. Pulling a glass... something... out and peering at it, but shrugged and stuffed it into a bag. Igvyi chuckled, but winked conspiratorially at Candy, clearly they would discern just what they were finding later, for now the adventure was the goal. His rider ducking under a fallen beam and slipping into a dim room. She paused, glancing down, as her steps softened, from wood to something softer. Carpet, she decided as her eyes adjusted. Peering around the room and grinning a bit, the scant light glinting off various gilded surfaces. A heavy desk bolted to the floor and a chair behind, thrown and shattered by the impact. Booms were strewn about and a few barrels had been knocked over. Sal moved carefully and began rummaging through the papers.

~*~

Candy tried to peer at whatever it is he'd spotted, only to have Sal bag it before he could work it out, he whuffed in mild annoyance, but grinned back that Igvyi to take any insult out of the sound. He glanced around the area, wings moving slightly as he did, curious as to whether thos overturned barrels had anything of interest, though.... maybe not. Other than the metal that kept the wood together. "Llyr? He's Miyu's 'first' dragon, and veeeeery protective of her. Something to do with how her species works i think Cascade said." Candy supplied, he hadn't delved past that point yet. "He's probably the actual 'adventurer'." The wyrm peered at the papers, trying to compare them to Llyr's. "that one, Llyr has that one in.... errr.... i would say highlighted but .... its what he's focusing on now. May I... take thataone please?"

~*~

"Oh? Would be quite interested to meet her, curious if her species." she was usually too curious about such things, but the girl shrugged and refocused. Nodding for the request and rolled the parchment up, carefully tucking it away and handing it over so the small dragon could carry it easier. "Sure thing, Dee." she allowed, shrugging fir the look the little dragon offered, "You said you don't like candy, and calling you 'can't seemed weird, so..." she shrugged and napped him lightly atop the head with the parchment before handing it over proper. Dee it was, unless he disliked that too, of course.
