“So, we meet again.”

The words were said with humor as the star speckled mare looked upon her joust opponent.

“Seems like the deities might like what kind of chaos we come up with,” Loki said with a grin, and Khaalida laughed.

“It also seems they loosened the restrictions on magic,” Khaalida said with a grin.

Their familiars, Cat and Gandy, stayed off to the side, accompanied by Khaalida’s newest companion, a crow named Silverwing. The crow had become a bit of a good luck charm for Khaalida in the jousts, and she certainly wasn’t going to go into a joust without her now.

“So, should we do away with the formalities and have some fun?” Loki asked, and Khaalida nodded.

“Let’s do this!”

The magic was nearly vibrating through the air as the two lesser deities rallied their powers. The air sang with it, and Cat and Gandy, having already witnessed the pair, moved back even further. Silverwing seemed to catch the hint as well, swiftly following.

It was like a mental countdown ran between them, before all hell broke loose.

Chaos Golems and Illusions sprung up courtesy of Loki, while Khaalida fired back by pulling up her Shield to protect herself, and Terrakinesis, the ground around them shifting and remaking itself to her will. Back and forth they went, magic being slung, the ground rising up to meet it, chaos reigning all around the deities.

It wasn’t long before Loki was laughing, and Khaalida joined soon after as they ducked and dodged the magic that flowed around them, avoiding attacks and launching their own.

The pure chaos forced each of them to get creative, bending their magic to their own will. Khaalida began to use her Shield magic to create force fields around the Chaos Golems, trapping them, while Loki switched tactics and began to turn the entire joust field into a jungle of chaos with his Illusions.

Neither revealed their third magics for a time, feeling each other out and working toward the big finale.

“I’m not done yet!” Loki said, “I still have one more trick!”

“So do I,” Khaalida grinned.

Unbeknownst to either, they had chosen the same third magic. Nearly at the same second, two wormholes collided between them, each working their wormhole manipulation to try and teleport the other. They collided with a concussive bang, and magic seemed to meld and shift as suddenly they were gone.

The two familiars and one Guardian sat on the sidelines, still protected by one of Khaalida’s shields.

“Should we be worried?” Gandy asked, looking around for any sight of the chaos that had reigned moments ago.

Cat licked her paw. “They will be back,” she replied, with a bit of a purring laugh.

High above, the stars spread around them as the two lesser deities floated in space. Loki laughed, looking around, while Khaalida grinned.

“Where were you trying to go?” Khaalida asked.

“I didn’t have a destination in mind,” Loki admitted. “I was having too much fun!”

“Me either,” Khaalida replied, looking around at the entirety of space spread around them.

“Well this is a bit of a pickle,” Loki laughed, shaking his head and looking up to where Khaalida floated slightly above him, each bobbing in mid air.

“Perhaps if we use our wormhole manipulation together to get back to the joust arena?” Khaalida suggested. “As much as floating around in space feels nice, I’m sure our familiars are worried.”

“Probably,” Loki admitted. The two floated closer together, each forming the image in their mind of the arena, and focusing on it as they drew upon their power. Fueled by their magic, a large wormhole began to appear.

“Let’s go!” Khaalida said, diving through, Loki on her heels.

The familiars were right where they left them, sitting and waiting. It took a few moments for the lesser deities to gain their breath, between the laughing and exertion of using so much magic.

“This has been a lot of fun,” Khaalida said, and Loki nodded.

“Perhaps fate will be on our side and we will get paired again,” Loki replied.

“Third time in a row, right?” Khaalida grinned, and Loki nodded again.

“Thank you for the wonderful joust,” Khaalida said, as she drank some water.

Cat and Silverwing wandered over, one hopping up from the ground to rest on her back, the other gliding in from the sky. Gandy slithered his way up Loki’s leg, to rest around his neck.

“Hopefully we will be able to battle again soon!”

As they said their goodbyes and parted ways, Khaalida couldn’t help but grin. Sometimes a bit of chaos was just what a girl needed!
