"Papaaaa~!"

Finally, today was the day, the day a little feral warpa managed to climb out of the aquarium all on his own and slide down to the table below. He was nearly large enough to lay sideways touching from one end of the tank to the other with his tail and snout, but it was still on the smaller side considering how big some pure bloods were able to grow. Floating up to the surface was the easy part, reaching up to drag himself over the lip of the tank, a smidge harder. Thankfully however, that was the hardest part to escaping, his plated tail hooking on to the tank edge completely on accident so he didn't flop straight onto the table. Something his baby brain didn't exactly compute all the way, merely thinking 'Yes! He's done it, he can visit papa now!'

From the other room, Ladi was busy tapping away at his own computer, jotting down notes in Ranvier's log to keep it up to date. It had been a year now and they were showing rapid signs of physical improvement. Lowered stress levels, less glitching, and were able to stay dry for longer without their plates cracking. It was a sign of healthy development Ladi was pleased to see for more reason than his greatest work showing signs of stability after previous failures. His baby was living well.

A happy cry for him drew the tired scientist from his work. He had just put Ranvier down for a nap, yet it seemed they had other plans. More than he knew. It wasn't uncommon for them to call him over often, no longer as comfortable being underwater for so long, but it was still a necessary evil at least until their plates hardened a little more. "It's getting late, did you want a snack before-" Cut off, Ladi lunged forward in a panic, the world slowing down when turned the corner just in time to see his little feral leap from the table with the most excited look on their face towards him. Something that quickly turned to panic once he started falling instead of swimming through the air like he obviously planned to do. He had such big wings, of course with enough distance a flap or two should get him airborne right?

Thankfully his papa dived fast enough to catch him before he smacked into the hard ground, one large glowing eye dulling as he teared up to wail from fright. A situation of his own doing, but all Ranvier had on his mind was surprising Ladi. And he sure managed that. Squirming and crying until he was held near their face, at least his papa didn't seem to mind him still being soaked while hugging their face. There was still a few moments when his form would glitch, for the most part they were both calming down until Ranvier mumbled something about wanting to have bed time with papa tonight. After the short scare, he was inclined to agree and prepared a damp towel as a blanket.
