Stress And Worries

Quietly, the pen scratched last minute notes into the documents before it came that vital moment. Looking up as Ladi was detailing its growth and seemingly well development thus far, he watched the little ravioli of a creature wiggle as if starting to form its own life. Pausing, it settled back down to its sleep-like stage but it did mean that soon it may be ready to be born. It was around the right time, but he wasn’t going to force out and preferred it come at its own pace.

Just relaxing and thinking of all those finer details, a wave of panic came over him. He realized the newest tank had yet to be set up. It had its little cave area for the baby to sleep in, and its shaded area for when it didn’t want to be in any light, and the ground itself was soft cloth for the baby to lay on without worry of it being too rough on the delicate skin. It was overall all a very simple set up for a young warpa just born. However, it was missing a heating element for its water. He had been telling himself he could get to it later, but was always just busy enough that later never came until now. Of all times to procrastinate things, it had to be now.

Jumping up, he searched through various draws in search of an old one he could use in the meantime. He knew they wouldn’t be a forever thing, but just something to work would have to do until he could get something more permanent. Rustling through his own desk draws, he found thankful one last one he shoved in the very back, unused due to it breaking quickly after long hours of use. Getting it set up, his eyes kept looking back to the baby in its growing containment, but it seemed more than happy to let papa panic his way through things and take that little bit more time.

As he fiddled with the cords, he wondered if he should have accepted a partner in this all. It would have been easier on his schedule for one, and a situation like this would have been harder to miss if you have two people working on what was the company's prized idea. At the same time though, he wondered if he would be as excited as he was if he knew it wasn’t just all his work and he was a soul creator of the lifeform that would hopefully come to and live its best life.

Sitting back down, he looked at the screen attached to the small aquatic baby to check vitals. All seemed to be doing well and the green numbers had remained steady this entire time after all those mishaps. He knew he was just being nervous, nervous if his own flesh and blood would be able to form like it was meant to. Leaning his face into his hands to take a deep breath, he relaxed knowing that stress wouldn’t make any situation better.

Then, the monitor began to beep. His little sea hybrid squirming to life.
