Gone Fishing: Oogie, Winnie, Blossom Final

With their last week at the Starwell, all seriousness was to be had with the future tasks each was assigned to do. Everyone on the ship had something they needed to take care of before they left so everything on the ship could be perfect when they departed. This also meant that these tasks were not as easy as strolling to the store to pick up a couple of gallons of moon milk. These tasks would require planning and tending, for everyone, and so far, no one was excited to help out as they usually had been before leaving. Everyone had become attached to the Starwell and the fishing fun it offered. For once, Oogieboogs had found something he actually liked, and now they would have to leave to the stars again.

To quench his thirst for the final day of fishing, the kitbull sneaked out early into the morning air before most had risen. Only a few were at the fishing dock, as expected, those who truly loved the sport. As the saying went, "the early bird catches the biggest fish," so he thought. Finding a good free space towards the end, the goopy kitbull nestled up, pulled out his Spellcaster Rod that never let him down, and cast. Today, there was nothing dramatic like fishing with a net and laser light. This was simply the good old-fashioned way, as a final thank you to the essence of it. He would try out fishing with no hooked worm on the end, curious if anything was caught before turning to the simple 'lure worm' he bought from the fishing stand nearby. They had offered many other types of worms that promised all sorts of grand fish, so he bought a couple of each to try out. Sooner or later, Oogieboogs expected a few of his sleepy shipmates to join him on the docks for some final fishing, but who would be the first to get up after him and follow was a mystery.

It was not long before the first shipmate came wandering down to the docks with sleep still in his eyes. Spellcaster rod in hand, with his own little tackle box full of items to test out on their final days, he lifted his arm into the air for a grand stretch, letting loose a loud yawn, then turning the stretch into a wave as Oogieboogs looked back from the dock end towards him. Winnie was pleased to find the kitbull back in his new chosen element of the fishing docks. The boy felt a bit bad that soon they would be returning to the stars with who knows how long until they got the opportunity to fish again. At least they had their handy Spellcaster Rods created by Medi to aid them when they did find a place. And with them all enjoying the fishing thing so much, there was not a dedicated wall to hang their spellcaster rods proudly with all the fun little things needed for this task.

"Good morning, Oogie. Catch anything fun yet?" Winnie did not really need to ask that, simply looking into the kitbull's bucket, which was already half full with some hefty fish. Impressed, he plopped down beside the drippy goop of a kitbull and set up his own rod with bait. He would use the 'fly lure,' seeing as Oogieboogs was switching to use that one as well. It was also so he did not have to compete with Oogieboogs to get a really good fish. They both could enjoy the moments together instead of making it a competition like they had before so many times. Winnie figured he would have an hour or so with Oogieboogs until he filled up his bucket to skitter off to the marketplace. By the time Oogie would be finished, Winnie figured the dock would be closer to filling up with life, considering how early they had gotten up.

"Good morning, guys..." The soft sing-song voice of Blossom escaped into the air after a few minutes. The girl must have heard the stirring of Winnie collecting his things, since the boy was rather loud at times, and decided to get up. She herself was not looking forward to spending the rest of their time packing and getting the ship ready to leave, so she gladly would take her final moments of peace at the dock, fishing with her family. The morning air was crisp and refreshing, a proper way to start the day. No fog rolled on the Starwells pools to cloud them, just the magical hue of rising morning with the song of bugs chirping as if to be on a pond. This was true peace, and she wanted a piece of it, as it reminded her much of when she escaped into a good book and lost herself.

"Morning, Blossom," Winnie responded back with a smile, offering the girl a seat. Oogieboogs vibrated a welcoming good morning before returning to his focus on the Starwells pool.

Turning to sit down next to Winnie, Blossom began to set up her own little rod. Seeing that the boys were trying the rarest lure they could buy, she looked in her own bag of items and managed to find one she had been saving. The lure looked absolutely terrifying to her and actually made her question why a fish would love to eat something so unappealing looking, black and red that just seemed like an angry little tentacle. Nonetheless, she hooked it up and set her cast into the water. With an empty bucket behind her, she figured to start with the most expensive lures and work her way down until the dock got too busy. For now, she would take full enjoyment of the morning with her companions and catch some good fish. The morning would be filled with peace while the rest would be focused only on work and getting things done before they left.
