Act 2.1

The wolf toto was waiting for a space to leap in as Bucci and the rest of the entourage caught up. The other warriors didn't even look tired from their sprint, but that was likely adrenaline that hadn't had the time to wear off. The backup snuck through the undergrowth, they fanned out to hide in bushes and behind trees. The wolf toto gave a few glances around to acknowledge their presence, then seemed to make up their mind.

[He's gonna pounce!] Venni informed the others through the link.

[Very well.] Zipper kneeled in waiting. [less work for us.]

[Wait,] Ghighi asked, nervousness coming through even stronger through pure thought. [How are we gonna back up a giant wolf, anyway?]

The wolf snarled, and leapt into the middle of the camp. A giant paw swatted a burly aphex to the ground and sent her weapons and furs flying. She must have been high up on the poacher's command, because the rest of them started screaming and scattering in every direction.

One of those directions was towards Bucci, so he wasted no time in unzipping a poacher's head from his neck. The head remained screaming, both halves of the body kept alive through the Cyphon's magic.

"What's happening?!" The aphex wailed, seeing his own body stumble around in a panic. He gasped in pain as Bucci stomped his body to the ground, and his terror only compounded when he saw the giant wolf's reenforcements jump out of their hiding spots and sprint for the Bhasin cages.

"It's your lucky day!" Bucci informed the head. "You're coming with me for questioning."

Ghighi and Venni were among those making a mad dash for the cages, and since Ghighi's tiny legs forced him to bring up the rear, he blasted ice in the direction of anything that moved.

[You're wasting your only useful affliction, but go on I suppose.] Venni jumped up and tackled the dephex who had stayed to guard the cages.

[Shaddap, I've got another affliction!] As if to prove the point, Ghighi sent out a stream of bubbles in the direction of the next attacker. The aphex accidentally popped one, and it got in her eye.

"You LITTLE--!" With a strong kick, Ghighi was sent flying into the strong trunk of a nearby tree, which he splatted against and crumpled into the ground.

[Ugh.] Venni made sure the Dephex wasn't getting up, then flew over to grab their tiny companion.

As the aphex rubbed her eyes in annoyance, she spotted another toto. He didn't even seem to be participating in the fight, just standing and watching the giant wolf tear through the camp. She decided she wasn't going to look a gift vikai in the mouth, and took a blow dart from her pack.

'Lets see if these work on you guys,' she thought, crouching behind a crate and loading it in. 'So I don't waste any non-lethals on the giant doggie.'

Pwomph!

Despite how tiny the noise had been in comparison to all the screaming and battling around them, the toto's head whipped towards her the moment the blow dart made the noise.

"Heyyy!" He smiled a big shark grin, striding over. "I knew a pirate who used these back in the day!"

The aphex stood up with a growl and grabbed her machete. "Guess they don't work on you, huh?"

"Good guess."

The toto's grin turned sharp and deadly, but he was in striking distance. She lunged with her blade and aimed for his chest, but in the very next moment he caught her arm with his teeth. His eyes rolled back, her blood gushed on his face as he sliced clean through muscle and bone with one mighty CHOMP!

GLup! Down the hatch without chewing anything. He reached for the machete sticking out of his chest and yanked it out with ease.

"Well, that was a strike to kill if I ever saw one." The shark toto's grin had turned from pearl white to bleeding red. "I don't like to kill those who don't fight back, see? So, the fact that you tried to kill me puts you on the menu~!"

The aphex clutched her bleeding stump arm, glancing at the machete he'd just dropped on the ground. Her head spun with blood loss as the hungry shark stepped closer again, she didn't know if she should spend her last moments running, or fighting, or just crying and praying for forgiveness--

WHACK!

A syron whacked its tail on the toto's head, sending him stumbling. Just as the poacher was recovering from that, an elsin with blue markings grabbed her around the middle and dragged her towards a small circle of poachers who had surrendered.

"Lets get you fixed up." The elsin panted. "That's enough fighting for one day, yes? Maybe even for a lifetime."

The poacher, whose head was still spinning from looking death in the face, just nodded her head and thought about life.
