Ghost Story! - Dromedas

Light flickers in the mist from the water. Normally Dromedas found it soothing, but something in the movement tonight set her on edge. Twinkling like the flashing of teeth. She approaches to gather water into her pots, but stops when she realizes something.

She can't smell, or taste anything, and her hearing is far more muffled than it should be. Her neck swivels as she tries to catch any smell, to hear anything besides the painfully crisp sound of water moving over rock. Slowly, Dromedas turns back to the task at hand.

It's alright, fog is known to do funny things. Just get your water and go back to your den.

Mercifully, it doesn't take long to fill her pots. Her crest stands on end as she turns to leave, and something compels her to look back. Water ripples roar like waves in the quiet.

A head and neck rise above the water, body hidden in the fog and black below. Impossibly so. She knows the water here barely reaches her chest. Yet... she saw no body trailing after. Only down into the water.

Then it smiles at her. No malice, but neither was it friendly. Her crest can't flare anymore, and her heart starts racing.

She tightens the lids on her pots before running as fast as she can back to her den. Her senses slowly return.
