Plushpets Prompt Submission

Shrimpy skipped down the cobblestone path with a basket in one hand and a thermos in another. She could feel the warm tea splash around its container and she could smell the aroma of the meal she packed. 

It had taken her all day to get everything ready, from cooking the rice to making the filling and picking out the best strawberries from Red’s garden. The food she was most excited for was the batch of sugar cookies shaped to match that if a fish’s and colored with icing to match its scales. 

Shrimpy scanned the grassy field for a perfect place to lay her picnic blanket. Like all good picnic blankets, it was a nice red plaid and soft enough that it was comfortable to the touch but sturdy enough that a little wear and tear wouldn’t lower the quality. 

After settling for a spot underneath a beautifully sprawling tree, Shrimpy laid out all the food stuffed into her basket. First came the neatly cut strawberries, then came the dried seaweed, next the pickled plum filled rice balls, and finally— the sugar cookies. 

Shrimpy unwrapped the first onigiri, taking in its perfectly shaped rice before devouring it in two swift bites. This was surely going to be the perfect picnic.
